CHALLENGE TO CHRISTIANS TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN FACING THE NEW YEAR 2025.

(Romans 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Renew Your Mind

Objective of the Sermon

To encourage believers to experience personal transformation by resisting conformity to worldly values, embracing the renewing power of God’s Word and Spirit, and living in alignment with His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Scriptures

Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Ephesians 4:23 – “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds.”

Colossians 3:10 – “And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

Introduction

As the new year begins, many of us focus on resolutions, new beginnings, and changes in our lives. While these goals often concern our outward actions or habits, the Bible teaches us that true transformation begins in the mind. Romans 12:2 calls us to be “transformed by the renewing of our mind.” This renewal is not a mere change of thought, but a radical shift in how we view the world and make decisions. Today, we will explore how to align our thoughts with God’s will and experience the deep transformation He desires for us in the new year.

Development

Resist Conformity:

Scripture Reference: Romans 12:2

The first step in renewing our mind is resisting the temptation to conform to the patterns of this world. The world encourages us to value success, materialism, self-promotion, and comfort above all else. However, these worldly values can distract us from God’s purpose for our lives.

Application: We must be intentional in guarding our minds against these influences, filtering what we watch, hear, and engage with, and evaluating whether it aligns with God’s truth.

* SOME MULTIPLE GREAT THINGS TO RENEW THE MIND OF THE CHRISTIANS.

1. TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN SETTING OUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE.

( Colossians 3:1-10 ) [1]If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

[2]Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

[3]For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

[4]When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

[5]Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

[6]For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

[7]In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

[8]But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

[9]Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

[10]And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

2. TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN HUMBLING OURSELVES BEFORE GOD.

( James 4:6-10 ) [6]But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

[7]Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

[8]Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

[9]Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

[10]Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

3. TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN COMMITING OURSELVES TO FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

( John 9:4-5 ) [4]I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

[5]As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

* Jerusalem Church is our good model for commitment in fulfilling the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ.

( Acts 6:4-7 ) [4]But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

[5]And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

[6]Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

[7]And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

* The Jerusalem Church never stop in reaching souls.

( Acts 5:26-29 ) [26]Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

[27]And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

[28]Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

[29]Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

4. TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN MORE CONCERN TO SUPPORT THE MISSION WORK OF THE CHURCH.

( Philippians 4:15-19 ) [15]Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

[16]For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

[17]Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

[18]But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

[19]But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

5. TO RENEWED OUR MINDS IN TOTAL SACRIFICE IN GIVING TO REACH OUR GOAL OF 1 MILLION PESOS FOR 2025.

( II  Corinthians 8:1-12 ) [1]Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

[2]How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

[3]For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

[4]Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

[5]And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

[7]Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

[8]I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

[9]For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

[10]And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

[11]Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

[12]For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

* God loveth the cheerful giver.

( II Corinthians 9:6-8 ) [6]But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

[7]Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

[8]And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

* God bless you all always *
