MARKS OF GOD’S ABOUNDING GRACE IN THE
LIFE OF THE CHRISTIANS.
(1 Timothy 1:12-16 )
[12]And I
thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me
faithful, putting me into the ministry;
[13]Who was before a blasphemer,
and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it
ignorantly in unbelief.
[14]And the grace of our Lord was
exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
[15]This is a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief.
[16]Howbeit for this cause I
obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all
longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to
life everlasting.
1.GOD'S ABOUNDING GRACE CALLS AND EQUIPS US TO SERVE GOD
(1 Timothy 1:12) And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord,
who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the
ministry;
a. God put the ministry of equipping the believers of Christ inside the
local Church.
( Ephesians 4:11-16
) [11]And he
gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers;
[12]For the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
[13]Till we all come in the unity
of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto
the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
[14]That we henceforth be no more
children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by
the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to
deceive;
[15]But speaking the truth in
love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
[16]From whom the whole body fitly
joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to
the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.
2.GOD’S ABOUNDING GRACE FORGIVES OUR SINS.
(1 Timothy 1:13-15) [13]Who was before a blasphemer,
and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it
ignorantly in unbelief.
[14]And the grace of our Lord was
exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
[15]This is a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief.
3. GOD’S ABOUNDING GRACE CHANGES OUR HEARTS
(1 Timothy 1:14) And the grace of our Lord was
exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
* Our Hearts springkled from an evil concience
(Hebrews 10:22 ) [22]Let us draw near with a true
heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
[23]Let us hold fast the
profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
4. GOD’S ABOUNDING GRACE CONVICTS AND HUMBLES US
(1 Timothy 1:15) This is a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief.
(James 4:6-10) [6]But he giveth more grace.
Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
[7]Submit yourselves therefore to
God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[8]Draw nigh to God, and he will
draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye
double minded.
[9]Be afflicted, and mourn, and
weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
[10]Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
5. GOD'S ABOUNDING GRACE DISPLAYS GOD’S ’s GLORY TO
OTHERS
(1 Timothy 1:16) Howbeit for this cause I obtained
mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a
pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
( Mathew 5;16 ) Let your light so shine before
men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in
heaven.
* The Lord Jesus Christ set us ,a good model of genuine Christian
infront of the lost people in this World. Also we follow the steps of the Lord
Jesus Christ as a good example.
(John 17:12-18) [12]While I was with them in the
world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none
of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be
fulfilled.
[13]And now come I to thee; and
these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in
themselves.
[14]I have given them thy word;
and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am
not of the world.
[15]I pray not that thou shouldest
take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
[16]They are not of the world,
even as I am not of the world.
[17]Sanctify them through thy
truth: thy word is truth.
[18]As thou hast sent me into the
world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
6. GOD’S ABOUNDING GRACE MAKES US MODELS FOR OTHERS.
(1 Timothy 1:16) Howbeit for this cause I obtained
mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a
pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
* Paul showed a good example in serving the Lord with humility of mind
and with many tears.
(Acts 20:19-21) [19]Serving the Lord with all
humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the
lying in wait of the Jews:
[20]And how I kept back nothing
that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you
publickly, and from house to house,
[21]Testifying both to the Jews,
and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus
Christ.
* What if we lack these marks of God’s abundant grace? What if we don’t
know our callings? What if we lack love for God and others? What if we lack
humility and many of the other marks of grace?
* Paul was very victorious in the Ministry of the Lord because the
bountiful grace of God.
( I Corinthians
15:10 ) But by the
grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not
in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace
of God which was with me.
* Paul was more aggressive and
confident in serving the Lord of always abounding in the work of the Lord.
( I Corinthians
15:58 ) Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
