WHEN CHRIST CALLED US FRIENDS WHAT IS
THE TRUE MEANING OF THAT TO HIM.
John 15:13-16 [13]Greater love hath no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[14]Ye are my friends, if ye do
whatsoever I command you.
[15]Henceforth I call you not
servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called
you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known
unto you.
[16]Ye have not chosen me, but I
have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and
that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my
name, he may give it you.
* INTRODUCTION:
* There a true basis of why Christ called us His friends. Not all
Christians can claim that they are the friends of the Lord Jesus Christ.
* Bible basis why Christ called His disciples His friends is in verse 15.
(John 15:13-14) [13]Greater love hath no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[14]Ye are my friends, if ye do
whatsoever I command you.
a. The Jesus Christ called us friends because we always do what are His
commandments to you and me.
b. Christ is always touch in the lives of every Christian who always
ready to obey Him at all times.
(John 15:14-15) [14]Ye are my friends, if ye do
whatsoever I command you.
[15]Henceforth I call you not
servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called
you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known
unto you.
1. BEING FRIENDS WITH CHRIST SHOWS OUR TOTAL OBEDIENCE
AND INTIMACY WITH HIM.
( John 14:15) If ye love me, keep my
commandments.
a. Our sincere obedience to Christ proves our intimacy with the Lord
Jesus Christ.
* (Philippians
1:16-17) [16]The
one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to
my bonds:
[17]But the other of love, knowing
that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
* Even though we do not see God, we love Him and excited to serve Him
and always believe in Him.
( 1 Peter 1:8 ) Whom having not seen, ye love; in
whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable
and full of glory:
2. BEING FRIENDS WITH CHRIST SHOWS OUR TOTAL HUMBLENESS
AND SUBMISSION TO HIM.
( James 4:6-10) [6]But he giveth more grace.
Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
[7]Submit yourselves therefore to
God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[8]Draw nigh to God, and he will
draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye
double minded.
[9]Be afflicted, and mourn, and
weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
[10]Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
3. BEING FRIENDS WITH CHRIST SHOWS OUR TOTAL SURRENDERED
LIFE AND WILLINGNESS TO SACRIFICE FOR HIM.
( I Peter 4:13-16) [13]But rejoice, inasmuch as ye
are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed,
ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
[14]If ye be reproached for the
name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon
you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
[15]But let none of you suffer as
a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's
matters.
[16]Yet if any man suffer as a
Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
4. BEING FRIENDS WITH CHRIST SHOWS OUR TOTAL LOVE FOR
PRECIOUS SOULS AND WIN THEM AS MANY AS WE CAN.
( I Corinthians
9:19:22 ) [19]For
though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I
might gain the more.
[20]And unto the Jews I became as
a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the
law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
[21]To them that are without law,
as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,)
that I might gain them that are without law.
[22]To the weak became I as weak,
that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by
all means save some.
5. BEING FRIENDS WITH CHRIST SHOWS OUR TOTAL EXCITEMENT
AND FAITHFULLNESS FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
( Mathew 24:45-47 ) [45]Who then is a faithful and
wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them
meat in due season?
[46]Blessed is that servant, whom
his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
[47]Verily I say unto you, That he
shall make him ruler over all his goods.
* May we find us faithful at Christ coming soon.
(Philippians 1:5-6) [5]For your fellowship in the
gospel from the first day until now;
[6]Being confident of this very
thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the
day of Jesus Christ:
( God bless you all always)
