THE MODEL FATHER IN THE BIBLE.

 

1. THE LOVE OF GOD THE FATHER FOR HIS GREAT FOR ALL SINNERS.

( John 3:16 ) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2. KING DAVID A MODEL GODFEARING FATHER.

( Psalms 128:1-6 ) 1 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.

3. ABRAHAM A MODEL OBIDIENT FATHER BEFORE GOD.

( Hebrew 11:8 ) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

4. DANIEL A MODEL PRAYERFUL FATHER BEFORE GOD.

( Daniel 6:9-13 ) 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

5. MOSES A MODEL FAITHFUL FATHER BEFORE GOD.

( Hebrews 3:5 ) And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

6. JOSHUA A MODEL FATHER IN SERVING GOD.

( Joshua 24:15 ) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
