[T] [PREACHING LESSON 3:] THE GREAT MARKS OF CHRISTIANS WHO ARE ADDICTED TO THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD.

THE GREAT MARKS OF CHRISTIANS WHO ARE ADDICTED TO THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD.

*INTRODUCTION:

* Addicted: meaning: Habit-forming behavior in doing things.

* Today we are talking about spiritual addiction not moral addiction to doing bad things in their life.

* Today we are talking about the good thing of the spiritual addiction of Christians.

1 Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

1. THEY LOVE TO WORSHIP GOD IN HIS TEMPLE.

(Acts 2:46-47) 46. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47.Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

2. THEY LOVE TO PRAY ALWAYS WITH FAITHFUL CHURCH MEMBERS.

(Acts 1:13-15) 13. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14.These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15. And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

3. THEY LOVE TO GIVE AND SUPPORT THE LORD’S WORK WITH SACRIFICE.

(II Corinthians 8:1-5) 1.Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

2.How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

3.For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

4.Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

5.And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

4. THEY LOVE TO MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORD EARNESTLY.

(Joshua 1:8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

5. THEY LOVE TO WIN SOULS EVEN WITH GREAT OBSTACLES TO DO SO.

(Acts 5:26-29) 26. Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27.And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28.Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

29.Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

6. THEY LOVE TO SEEK GOD FIRST IN THEIR LIVES.

(Mathew 6:33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

7. THEY LOVE TO HELP WEAK AND NEW CHRISTIANS GROW IN THEIR CHRISTIAN LIFE.

(Ephesians 4:11-16) 11.And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12.For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13.Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14.That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15.But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16.From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

8. THEY LOVE TO SUPPORT MISSIONARIES FINANCIALLY IN THEIR MISSION WORK.

(Philippians 4:15-16) 15. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16.For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

9. THEY LOVE TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD SO THAT THEY CAN DECLARE THE WORK OF THE LORD.

(Psalms 73:28) But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

10. THEY LOVE TO FOLLOW GOD ALWAYS IN THEIR CHRISTIAN LIFE.

(Philippians 1:9) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement.

*God bless you all always
