LET'S DO THESE GREAT THINGS FOR THE LORD NOW
Hebrews 6:10 10 For God
is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed
toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
INTRODUCTION:
If
Christians know what we can do to serve the Lord and please God, we must do it
now—do not wait for tomorrow. Amen.
1. TO WORSHIP THE LORD WITH FAITHFULNESS.
The
Jerusalem Church is a good model of worshipping God with faithfulness.
( Acts 5:26-29 ) 29 Then
Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather
than men.
( Acts 2:46-47 ) 46 And
they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from
house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the
people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
2. TO WALK A WORTHY WALK BEFORE GOD CONSISTENTLY.
God's
people are called to walk in a way that is worthy in the eyes of God.
(Hebrews 11:1-8)
( Colossians 1:10 ) 10 That ye
might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good
work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
3. TO WORK IN GOD'S VINEYARD BOUNTIFULLY.
The
Lord Jesus Christ encourages Christians to lift up our eyes and look at the
fields, for they are white for harvest.
( 1 Corinthians 15:58 ) Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
4. TO WATCH AND PRAY ALWAYS FOR NEEDY CHRISTIANS.
God
deserves our utmost effort as we pray sacrificially, for we are the people of
God.
(Hebrews 4:16; Jeremiah 33:3)
( Acts 12:1-5 ) 1 Now about
that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the
church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the
sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he
proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in
prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him;
intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer
was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
5. TO
WAIT FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD WITH FAITHFULNESS.
Knowing
that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon encourages Christians to do even more
of His work while we await His return.
(Acts 6:4-7)
( Matthew 24:45-47 ) 45 Who then
is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his
household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he
cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him
ruler over all his goods.
God
