WHY PRAYER
IS A MUST IN DAILY CHRISTIAN LIVING OF GOD'S PEOPLE?
(JAMES 4:2) "Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight
and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."
Introduction:
a. God
is the author of prayer, and God is always sincere to hear the prayer of His
people.
b. God
always encourages His people to call unto Him in prayer.
(LUKE 18:1) "And
he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and
not to faint;"
c.
God's people, for whom prayer is a must ministry in their Christian life, are
the victorious people in their spiritual battles.
(DANIEL 6:12-13) "Then
they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast
thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask [a petition] of any God
or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of
lions? The king answered and said, The thing [is] true, according to the law of
the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 13 Then answered they and said
before the king, That Daniel, which [is] of the children of the captivity of
Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but
maketh his petition three times a day."
Five
(5) great reasons why prayer is necessary in daily Christian living of God's
people:
I. BECAUSE GOD PROMISES TO GIVE OUR NEEDS THROUGH OUR
FAITHFUL PRAYER
(MATTHEW 7:7-8) "Ask,
and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
a. God
is the author of the Christian's prayer, and prayer is asking and receiving.
Prayer is seeking and finding your request from God, and prayer is knocking and
opening the door of heaven so He answers your prayers.
b.
Daily prayer ensures that we do not rely on our own strength or worldly
desires, but rather live in complete dependence upon God’s unending grace.
II. BECAUSE GOD PROTECTS GOD'S PEOPLE THROUGH FAITHFUL
PRAYER
(PSALMS 91:1-3) "He
that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, [He is] my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of
the fowler, [and] from the noisome pestilence."
a. God
assures His perfect protection to all God's people that call unto Him in
prayer.
(PSALMS 91:3-6) "Surely
he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome
pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt
thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be
afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for
the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth
at noonday."
b.
When the enemy attempts to bring fear, anxiety, and defeat into our lives, a
consistent prayer life serves as a spiritual shield that keeps us anchored in
divine safety.
III. BECAUSE GOD PROMOTES GOD'S PEOPLE THROUGH FAITHFUL
PRAYER
(1 CHRONICLES 4:10) "And
Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me
indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that
thou wouldest keep [me] from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted
him that which he requested."
a. All
the prayers of Jabez were granted. Oh, what a great blessing, because every
aspect that Jabez needed was bountifully supplied by God.
b. God
promises His Church to supply all our needs in Christ Jesus.
(PHILIPPIANS 4:19) "But
my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus."
c.
Divine promotion and favor are released when God's people align their hearts
with His righteousness, allowing Him to expand their territory and influence
for His kingdom.
IV.
BECAUSE GOD PROVIDES MORE LABORERS IN THE HARVEST THROUGH THE PRAYER OF GOD'S
PEOPLE
(LUKE 10:1-2) "After
these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two
before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers
[are] few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth
labourers into his harvest."
a. The
work of the Lord needs more laborers to harvest more souls. We are commanded by
the Lord of the Harvest to pray that He send more laborers into His harvest.
b.
Christ encourages Christians to look on the fields, for they are white already
for harvest.
(JOHN 4:35) "Say
not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto
you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to
harvest."
c. A
prayerless church will lack the power and passion to witness, but a prayerful
church will see a revival of dedicated believers stepping into the harvest
field.
V. BECAUSE GOD PERFORMS MIRACLES IN THE LIFE OF GOD'S
PEOPLE THROUGH PRAYER
(LUKE 1:37) "For
with God nothing shall be impossible."
a. For
the God who made the heavens and the earth, nothing is too hard. We can count
on Him to do miracles in the lives of God's people.
(JEREMIAH 32:17) "Ah
Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power
and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee"
b.
Miracles are not performed through human wisdom or skill, but are birthed in
the secret place of prayer where faith touches the miraculous power of the
Almighty.
Conclusion:
Daily
prayer is not an optional practice, but an absolute necessity for every
believer who desires to walk in spiritual victory. Through a committed life of
prayer, God's people unlock divine provision, secure perfect protection,
receive spiritual promotion, multiply soulwinning laborers, and experience
life-changing miracles. Let us therefore remain steadfast, making prayer the
foundation of our daily Christian walk, knowing that nothing is impossible with
our God.
GOD
BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS!
