[PP] [PREACHING LESSON 16:] WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT SINNERS SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD

WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT SINNERS SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD

EPHESIANS 2:8–9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Introduction

I. WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT OUR SIN IS FORGIVEN AND FORGOTTEN

HEBREWS 10:17 “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

1 PETER 1:18–19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”

EPHESIANS 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

II. WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT OUR SAVIOR LIVES IN US

GALATIANS 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

2 CORINTHIANS 4:16 “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward [man] is renewed day by day.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

1 CORINTHIANS 15:57 “But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

III. WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT OUR SATISFACTION IN LIFE IS FROM THE LORD

PSALMS 23:1 “The Lord [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.”

PSALMS 1:2 “But his delight [is] in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”

PSALMS 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

GALATIANS 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,”

IV. WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT OUR SERVICE WILL SURELY BE REWARDED BY THE LORD

2 TIMOTHY 4:7–8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

1 CORINTHIANS 9:25 “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”

1 THESSALONIANS 2:19–20 “For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy.”

V. WE ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS BUT WE ARE SURE THAT OUR LORD WILL SOON COME FOR ME AND FOR YOU

TITUS 2:13 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

JOHN 14:2–3 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.”

1 JOHN 3:1–3 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”

Conclusion:

God bless you all always!
