THE CHRISTIANS WHO ALWAYS PLEASES GOD
INSIDE THE LOCAL CHURCH
COLOSSIANS 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of
God;”
Introduction:
a. It is good to know that if you and
I are the kind of Christian like the church at Colossian church that they are
walking worthy of the Lord with all pleasing, we are the kind of Christians
that God wants to see in the local church because we please Him.
b. Paul gave good commendation to the
Christian in Rome.
ROMANS 16:3-4 “Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ
Jesus:
Rom 16:4
Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give
thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.”
Five (5) things God is pleased with
Christians in the local church:
I. THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO DON’T “MISS”
THE WORSHIP SERVICE.
HEBREWS 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as
ye see the day approaching.”
a. God was pleased with the
faithfulness of the Jerusalem church in the daily worship of the Lord.
ACTS 2:46 “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the
temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart,”
Ø Thomas was not faithful in worshiping
God.
JOHN 20:24 “But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was
not with them when Jesus came.”
b. God calls the faithful worshiper
the true worshiper who worships Him in Spirit and in truth.
JOHN 4:23-24 “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father
seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship him in spirit and in truth.”
c. God was pleased with King David’s
excitement in worshiping Him in His temple.
PSALM 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into
the house of the Lord.”
II. THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO DON’T
“MURMUR” IN THE SERVICE OF GOD
PHILIPPIANS 2:14 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings:”
a. Serving God as Joshua and his
family did was a great privilege for Christians.
JOSHUA 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers
served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites,
in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
b. Paul was steadfast and faithful in
the service of God
1TIMOTHY 1:12 “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled
me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;”
III. THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO DON’T “MIX”
WITH UNBELIEVERS
2CORINTHIANS 6:14-18 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and
what communion hath light with darkness?”
a. Paul gives a very practical reason
why Christians should not be yoked with unbelievers.
Ø Righteousness cannot be mixed with
iniquity; the children of light cannot be mixed with the children of darkness.
b.God commanded Christians to
seriously separate themselves from unbelievers.
2CORINTHIANS 6:17-18 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye
separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive
you. 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters,
saith the Lord Almighty.”
IV. THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO DON’T “MOVE”
IN FACING DEEP TRIALS IN CHRISTIAN LIFE
1PETER 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more
precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be
found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
a. Job was a good example of a
Christian who remained steadfast in the face of deep trials in life.
JOB 2:9-10 “Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain
thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as
one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of
God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
b. Paul trusted in the Lord in times
of great turmoil in life.
2CORINTHIANS 1:8-9 “For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of
our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure,
above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
2Cor 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not
trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
V. THOSE WHO DO NOT MIS-UNDERSTOOD
THAT GREAT COMMISSION ARE NOT JUST COMMANDED FOR ONLY FEW BUT TO ALL CHRISTIANS
IN THE LOCAL CHURCH.
( Mathew 28:19-20 ) 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost:
20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
a. Jerusalem Church is our good
example in all Church members are involved in soulwinning. ( Acts 5:26-29 ) Acts 5:26 Then went the captain
with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the
people, lest they should have been stoned.
Acts 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council:
and the high priest asked them,
Acts 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in
this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend
to bring this man’s blood upon us.
Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to
obey God rather than men.
b. Christ is prime example in
soulwinning.
( John 9:4-5 ) Jn 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me,
while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Jn 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
* God bless you all always*
