CONSIDER
THIS: THE CALLING OF A CHRISTIAN IS NOT FOR AN EARTHLY PURPOSE, BUT FOR A
HEAVENLY PURPOSE AND THE PRAISE OF GOD
( Colossians 3:1-2 ) [1]If ye
then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ
sitteth on the right hand of God.
[2]Set your affection on things above, not on
things on the earth.
1 Corinthians 1:26-31 [26]For ye
see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not
many mighty, not many noble, are called:
[27]But God hath chosen the foolish things of the
world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty;
[28]And base things of the world, and things which
are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to
nought things that are:
[29]That no flesh should glory in his presence.
[30]But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God
is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
[31]That, according as it is written, He that
glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

YOUR CALLING IS NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE A “SOMEBODY”
Your
calling is not because you are greater than anyone else, but rather:
1. BECAUSE
YOU WERE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE
You
were redeemed by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ) [19]What?
know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20]For ye are bought with a price: therefore
glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
2. BECAUSE
YOU ARE SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD.
( Ephesians 2:8-9 ) [8]For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God:
[9]Not of works, lest any man should boast.
3. BECAUSE
YOU ARE CALLED TO BE AN AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST
We are
chosen to reconcile lost sinners to God.
( 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 ) [18]And all
things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath
given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
[19]To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling
the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath
committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
[20]Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye
reconciled to God.
[21]For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
4. BECAUSE
YOU ARE CALLED TO DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST
( 2 Timothy 4:1-5 ) [1]I charge
thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick
and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
[2]Preach the word; be instant in season, out of
season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
[3]For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears;
[4]And they shall turn away their ears from the
truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
[5]But watch thou in all things, endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
5. BECAUSE YOU ARE A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST FULLFILLING THE
GREAT COMMISSION.
( Matthew 28:19-20 ) [19]Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[20]Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the
world. Amen.
6. BECAUSE WE ARE LABORERS TOGETHER WITH CHRIST
We
must harvest precious souls before Jesus Christ returns.
( Mathew 9:36-38 ) [36]But
when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
[37]Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest
truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
[38]Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
7.
BECAUSE THE LOVE OF CHRIST CONSTRAINS US
We are
driven to win lost people at any cost, at every time and opportunity God gives
us.
( 2 Corinthians 5:14 ) For the
love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for
all, then were all dead:
( John 14:15 ) If ye love
me, keep my commandments.
