[NN] PREACHING LESSON 9:] CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT THEY ARE SINNERS SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD WITH A PERFECT CALLING.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT THEY ARE SINNERS SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD WITH A PERFECT CALLING.

( 2 Timothy 1:9 ) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

1. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT ARE CALLED TO FOLLOW THE STEPS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

( 1 Peter 2:21 ) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

* The two fishermen whom the Lord Jesus Christ called immediately left everything to follow Him.

(Mark 1:17-20) [17]And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

[18]And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

[19]And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

[20]And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

2. THE CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT CHRIST COMMANDED THEM TO BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

( Matthew 5:16 ) [16]Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 17:14-21 [14]I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

[15]I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

[16]They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

[17]Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

[18]As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

[19]And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

[20]Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

[21]That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

* The Lord Jesus desires for Christians to live a sanctified life because they have been redeemed by His precious blood.

( I Peter 1:18-19 ) [18]Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

[19]But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

3. THE CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT THE PERFECT HOLY SPIRIT INDWELLS IN OUR LIVES FROM MOMENT WE ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

( John 16:13 ) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

* The Work of the Holy Spirit in Us:

* He guides us and gives us wisdom in our Christian walk.

* He gives us power so that we can please God with our lives.

( Acts 1:8 ) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

* He produces spiritual fruit in our lives.

( Galatians 5:22-23 ) [22]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

[23]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

* He guides our prayers and helps us walk according to the will of God.

( Romans 8:26 ) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

4. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT CHRIST HAS CHOSEN US TO BE HIS FRIENDS AND PARTNERS IN HIS GREAT MINISTRY.

( John 15: 13-16 ) [13]Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

[14]Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

[15]Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

[16]Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

* God the Father treats Christians as His co-workers and laborers in the ministry of the Lord.

(1 Corinthians 3:9-10 ) [9]For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

[10]According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

5. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT CHRIST COMMANDED US TO BE READY FOR HIS COMING.

( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ) [13]But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

[14]For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

[15]For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

[16]For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

[17]Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

[18]Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

* Jesus consistently reminds Christians to remain watchful and ready for His return.

( Mathew 24: 45-47 ) [45]Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

[46]Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

[47]Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

God bless you all always!
