[NN] [PREACHING LESSON 7:] GOD'S WARNING TO CHRISTIANS ARE FOR OUR PROTECTION AND OUR OWN GOOD.

GOD'S WARNING TO CHRISTIANS ARE FOR OUR PROTECTION AND OUR OWN GOOD.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 [1]This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

[2]For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

[3]Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

[4]Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

[5]Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

1. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE LAST DAYS.

(2 Timothy 3:1-3) [1]This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

[2]For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

[3]Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS NOT TO BE UNEQUALLY YOKED WITH WORLDLY UNBELIEVERS

(2 Corinthians 6:14-18) [14]Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

[15]And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

[16]And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

[17]Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

[18]And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

3. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS TO BE STRONG IN THEIR FAITH BECAUSE OUR ENEMY, THE DEVIL, IS READY TO ATTACK WHEN WE ARE UNAWARE AND UNPREPARED.

( Ephesians 6:10-18 ) [10]Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

[11]Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12]For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

[13]Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

[14]Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

[15]And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

[16]Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

[17]And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

[18]Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

( John 8:44 ) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

4. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS AGAINST LOVING THE WORLD MORE THAN LOVING HIM.

( I John 2:15-17 ) [15]Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

[16]For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

[17]And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

* Demas loved the present world more than he loved God.

( 2 Timothy 4:10-11 ) [10]For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

[11]Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

5. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS THAT FRIENDSHIP WITH THE WORLD MEANS ENMITY WITH GOD.

( James 4:1-4 ) [1]From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

[2]Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

[3]Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

[4]Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

* Friendship with the world means living in accordance with the sinful patterns of the world.

( Ephesians 2:1-3 ) [1]And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

[2]Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

[3]Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

6. GOD WARNS CHRISTIANS NOT TO BE DOUBLE-MINDED, BUT TO ALWAYS MAINTAIN STRONG FAITH IN HIM.

( James 1:6-8 ) [6]But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth isz like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

[7]For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

[8]A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

( Hebrews 11: 6-9 ) [6]But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

[7]By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

[8]By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

(Hebrews 11:33-40) [33]Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

[34]Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

[35]Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

[36]And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

[37]They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

[38](Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

[39]And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

[40]God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

* God bless you all always  *
