THE
MESSAGE OF THE CROSS IS FOOLISHNESS TO THE LOST, RELIGIOUS, INTELLECTUAL, AND
RICH, BUT TO US WHO ARE SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS IS
THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.
* ( Romans 1:15-16 ) [15]So, as much
as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
[16]For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for
it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
( 1 Corinthians 1:18 ) For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God.
I realize
that the power of God is this: salvation is given to those who believe in the
message of the cross—that Jesus died in our place, for us who are sinners.
*
Lord, may I lay down the knowledge and wisdom of this world, and
proclaim nothing but the message of the cross, so that the world may be saved
through the power of God.
TO BORN
AGAIN CHRISTIANS, THE POWER OF THE CROSS IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION TO
THOSE THAT BELIEVETH.
Here are
Biblical examples of those who believed the message of the cross and were
saved:
1. THE PRISON WARDEN WHO BELIEVED AND WAS SAVED
( Acts 16:27-31 ) [27]And the
keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors
open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the
prisoners had been fled.
[28]But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do
thyself no harm: for we are all here.
[29]Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and
came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
[30]And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I
do to be saved?
[31]And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
2. LYDIA,
WHO BELIEVED AND WAS SAVED
( Acts 16:14 ) And a certain
woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which
worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto
the things which were spoken of Paul.
3. THE ETHIOPIAN
EUNUCH WHO BELIEVED AND WAS SAVED.
( Acts 8:34-37 ) [34]And the
eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet
this? of himself, or of some other man?
[35]Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the
same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
[36]And as they went on their way, they came unto a
certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to
be baptized?
[37]And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine
heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is
the Son of God.
4. THE MESSAGE PREACHED BY PETER, WHERE MORE THAN 5,000 BELIEVED AND
WERE SAVED
( Acts 4:1-4 ) [1]And as they
spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the
Sadducees, came upon them,
[2]Being grieved that they taught the people, and
preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
[3]And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold
unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
[4]Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed;
and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5. THE
MESSAGE PREACHED DAILY IN JERUSALEM, WHERE PEOPLE WERE DAILY SAVED AND ADDED TO
THE CHURCH
( Acts 2: 46-47 ) [46]And they,
continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house
to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
[47]Praising God, and having favour with all the
people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
6. PETER
PREACHED TO THE MULTITUDES, AND 3000 SOULS WERE SAVED.
( Acts 2:41 ) Then they that
gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto
them about three thousand souls.
God bless
you all always!
