CHRIST’S
COMPASSION FOR SOULS SHOWN THROUGH DEEP CONCERN FOR THE LOST PEOPLE TO BE SAVED
* INTRODUCTION:
Christ is concerned for all lost people. Whether they are wicked or
"moral," ordinary or wealthy, popular or unknown, uneducated or
highly educated—He cares for them all. All lost people are sinners before God
and, according to the Bible, face the judgment of an everlasting fire where no
mercy is given once they are there.
( Luke 16:23-28 ) [23]And in hell he lift up his
eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
[24]And he cried and said, Father
Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his
finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
[25]But Abraham said, Son,
remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise
Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
[26]And beside all this, between
us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from
hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
[27]Then he said, I pray thee
therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
[28]For I have five brethren; that
he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
1. CHRIST’S COMPASSION FOR SOULS IS SHOWN THROUGH DEEP
MERCY.
( Luke 23.42-43 ) [42]And he said unto Jesus, Lord,
remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
[43]And Jesus said unto him,
Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
*The criminal on the cross asked for mercy, and the Lord Jesus Christ
answered him, "To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."
*Christ was not too late to save the criminal, even in his final moments
on the cross at Calvary.
2. CHRIST’S COMPASSION FOR SOULS IS FILLED WITH DEEP
URGENCY.
( Luke 19:5-10 ) [5]And when Jesus came to the
place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and
come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
[6]And he made haste, and came
down, and received him joyfully.
[7]And when they saw it, they all
murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
[8]And Zacchaeus stood, and said
unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I
have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
[9]And Jesus said unto him, This
day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
[10]For the Son of man is come to
seek and to save that which was lost.
*The Lord Jesus Christ always showed urgency in winning the lost. He
told Zacchaeus, "Make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at
thy house."
*He declared that salvation had come to that house that very day.
( John 9:4-5 ) [4]I must work the works of him
that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5]As long as I am in the world, I
am the light of the world.
* Paul and the other disciples shared this urgency.
( II Timothy 4:1-5 )
[1]I
charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge
the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
[2]Preach the word; be instant in
season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and
doctrine.
[3]For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap
to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
[4]And they shall turn away their
ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
[5]But watch thou in all things,
endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy
ministry.
3. CHRIST’S COMPASSION FOR SOULS IS ALWAYS INTENTIONAL.
The Bible says Jesus "must needs go through Samaria."
He went there specifically to meet the woman at the well. Despite being weary,
He intentionally sought her out to offer her "living water," which
springs up into everlasting life.
(John 4:4-14) [4]And he must needs go through
Samaria.
[5]Then cometh he to a city of
Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave
to his son Joseph.
[6]Now Jacob's well was there.
Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it
was about the sixth hour.
[7]There cometh a woman of Samaria
to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
[8](For his disciples were gone
away unto the city to buy meat.)
[9]Then saith the woman of Samaria
unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a
woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
[10]Jesus answered and said unto
her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me
to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living
water.
[11]The woman saith unto him, Sir,
thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast
thou that living water?
[12]Art thou greater than our
father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his
children, and his cattle?
[13]Jesus answered and said unto
her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[14]But whosoever drinketh of the
water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give
him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
4. CHRIST’S COMPASSION IS EXTENDED TO ALL RELIGIOUS
PEOPLE.
( John 3:3-7 ) [3]Jesus answered and said unto
him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see
the kingdom of God.
[4]Nicodemus saith unto him, How
can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his
mother's womb, and be born?
[5]Jesus answered, Verily, verily,
I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot
enter into the kingdom of God.
[6]That which is born of the flesh
is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7]Marvel not that I said unto
thee, Ye must be born again.
* Nicodemus was a "good" and religious man, but he was still
lost and needed to be born again to enter the Kingdom of God.
* Often, religious people are the hardest to reach because they believe
their good works will save them.
* Like Nicodemus, many are religious but lost in the sight of God.
Salvation comes only through Christ, not through our own efforts.
( Romans 10:9 ) That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
5. CHRIST’S COMPASSION IS
VERY PERSONAL TO EVERY LOST PEOPLE
( Matthew 9:35-38 [35]And Jesus went about all the cities and
villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
[36]But when he saw the
multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and
were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
[37]Then saith he unto his
disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
[38]Pray ye therefore the Lord of
the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
* Christ concern is for every individual lost person. The Criminal on
the cross accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour of his life., The
Samaritan woman accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour of her life.,
Zacchaeus also accepted Jesus Christ. Salvation is not like something to
inherit from your Parents. No that is not Salvation experience. You need to
admit that you are a sinner before God.
And you need to admit that you cannot save yourself from sure judgement
in hell forever and lastly you need to admit that you need Jesus Christ as your
Lord and Saviour of your life.
( Romans 10:9 ) That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
* My question to you now is do you want now to accept Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Saviour of your life now.
* I will give you all an invitation now and if you are ready do it now
because we do not what will tomorrow will come. The said now ang araw ng
kaligtasan.
2 Mga Taga-Corinto
6:2 ) (Sapagka't
sinasabi niya, Sa panahong ukol kita'y pinakinggan, At sa araw ng pagliligtas
kita'y sinaklolohan: Narito, ngayon ang panahong ukol; narito, ngayon ang araw
ng kaligtasan):
* God bless you all always *
