CHRISTIANS
ARE SANCTIFIED FOR GOD'S PURPOSE
1 Corinthians 1:1-6 [1]Paul, called to be an apostle
of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
[2]Unto the church of God which is
at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints,
with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both
theirs and ours:
[3]Grace be unto you, and peace,
from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
[4]I thank my God always on your
behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
[5]That in every thing ye are
enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
[6]Even as the testimony of Christ
was confirmed in you:
* ( 2 Timothy 1:9 ) Who hath saved us, and called us
with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own
purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
* Introduction:
a. To be sanctified means you experienced the precious blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ in your life.
( Romans 5:8-10 ) [8]But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
[9]Much more then, being now
justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
[10]For if, when we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled,
we shall be saved by his life.
* To be Sanctified and become a saint in Christ means you are washed by
the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
* To be Sanctified and Saints in Christ means we belong to the family of
God in heaven.
( John 1:12-13 ) [12]But as many as received him,
tow them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on
his name:
[13]Which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1. CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF FOLLOWING
THE WALK OF CHRIST.
( 1 Peter 2:21 ) For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should
follow his steps:
* Lost people cannot walk like Christ because they are not sanctified
and they do not belong to the family of God.
2. CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF LIVING AS
THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
( Mathew 5:16 ) Let your light so shine before
men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in
heaven.
* Only a Sanctified life can reflect the spiritual light and life from
Christ.
( John 1:4-9 ) [4]In him was life; and the life
was the light of men.
[5]And the light shineth in
darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6]There was a man sent from God,
whose name was John.
[7]The same came for a witness, to
bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8]He was not that Light, but was
sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9]That was the true Light, which
lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
3. CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRAYING
TO GOD WITH POWER AND GRACE.
( Hebrews 4:16 ) Let us therefore come boldly unto
the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time
of need.
*( Jeremiah 33:3 ) Call unto me, and I will answer
thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
* ( 2 Chronicles
7:14 ) If my
people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
4. THE CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF
STRENGTHENING THE CHURCH DURING TRIALS AND TROUBLES IN LIFE.
( Philippians 4:7-13
) [8]Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things.
[9]Those things, which ye have
both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace
shall be with you.
[10]But I rejoiced in the Lord
greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye
were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
[11]Not that I speak in respect of
want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
[12]I know both how to be abased,
and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to
be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
[13]I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me.
5. THE CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF
FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
* ( Mathew 28:19-20
) [19]Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[20]Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen.
(Acts 5:26-29) [26]Then went the captain with the
officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest
they should have been stoned.
[27]And when they had brought
them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
[28]Saying, Did not we straitly
command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled
Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
[29]Then Peter and the other
apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
6. CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING
THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR CHRISTIAN LIFE.
( Acts 1:8 ) But ye shall receive power, after
that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.
( John 16:13 ) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of
truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of
himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew
you things to come.
* God bless you all always *
