WAYS CHRISTIANS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH
CHRIST IN GLORIFYING GOD IN THE WORLD
JOHN 17:1-5 These words
spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is
come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Jn 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all
flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Jn 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they
might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Jn 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I
have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Jn 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with
thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Introduction:
a. Compatible – going together very well; agreeing to each other
always; walking together without trouble; harmonious in relationship.
b. The Christian family live compatibly.
PSALMS 128:1-4 “Blessed [is] every one that
feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. 2 For thou shalt eat the labour of
thine hands: happy [shalt] thou [be], and [it shall be] well with thee. 3 Thy
wife [shall be] as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children
like olive plants round about thy table. 4 Behold, that thus shall the man be
blessed that feareth the Lord.
c. The local church should serve the Lord harmoniously and unitedly.
d. The servant of God and church workers work together respectfully and
fruitfully.
EPHESIANS 4:13-17 Till we all come
in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a
perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:14 That we [henceforth] be no more
children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by
the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to
deceive;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow
up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined
together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the
Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of
their mind,
SIX (6) GREAT WAYS CHRISTIANS AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
ARE COMPATIBLE IN GLORIFYING GOD IN THIS WORLD:
I. COMPATIBLE IN PRAISING GOD
JOHN 17:4-5 “I have glorified thee on the
earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O
Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with
thee before the world was.”
a. The Lord Jesus is a prime example in praising and glorifying God in
the house of the Lord.
b. Jerusalem church was a good example of praising and worshipping daily
in His temple.
ACTS 2:46-47 “And they, continuing daily with
one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their
meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour
with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be
saved.”
ACTS 5:42 “And daily in the temple, and in
every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”
II. COMPATIBLE IN
PRAYING TO GOD
LUKE 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them
[to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”
a. The Lord commanded His disciple to “ought always to pray and not to
faint”. More prayer, more power and less prayer, less power”.
b. Jerusalem church follow the example of the Jesus Christ in being
prayerful.
ACTS 1:13-15 And when they
were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and
James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew,
James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas [the brother] of
James.
Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in
prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with
his brethren.
Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the
midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an
hundred and twenty,)
III. COMPATIBLE IN
PRACTICING GOD’S WORD IYN DAILY LIFE
MATTHEW 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.”
a. The Lord Jesus Christ said that the Christians do not live by bread
alone but by the word of God that proceeded out of the mouth of God.
b. God commanded the Christians to meditate His precious words and
observe all that we read day and night.
JOSHUA 1:8 “This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
IV. COMPATIBLE IN PROMOTING SPIRITUALITY IN CHRISTIAN
LIFE
JOHN 17:16-19 “They are not of the world, even
as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them
into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might
be sanctified through the truth.”
a. The word of God is the source of spirituality and strength in
Christian life.
b. The Lord Jesus Christ is our good example in living a sanctified
life.
JOHN 17:18-19 “As thou hast sent me into the
world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I
sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
V. COMPATIBLE IN PERFECT UNITY WITH GOD
JOHN 17:20-23 Neither pray I
for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their
word;
Jn 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou,
Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the
world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Jn 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I
have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Jn 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may
be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and
hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
a. The Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father and the Holy Spirit showed
the example of perfect unity of the Christian.
b. The Christian showed also the perfect unity in doing the work of the
Lord.
PSALMS 133:1-3 “Behold, how good and how pleasant
[it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 [It is] like the precious
ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, [even] Aaron’s beard:
that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, [and as
the dew] that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord
commanded the blessing, [even] life for evermore.”
VI. COMPATIBLE IN PROCLAIMING THE
GOSPEL TO LOST SINNERS
ROMANS 1:15-16 “So, as much as in me is, I am
ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not
ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to
every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
a. The Christians follow the step of Christ in proclaiming the gospel of
Christ to lost sinners.
b. Christ commanded the church to proclaim the gospel of Christ to the
region beyond.
MATTHEW 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.”
CONCLUSION:
The Lord Jesus Christ and the Christian are compatible in glorifying God
on this planet earth.
