WHAT DO WE
MEAN TO WAIT FOR THE SOON COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST? WHAT DO WE NEED TO
DO WHILE WAITING FOR HIS SOON COMING?
( Matthew 24:45-47 )
[45]Who
then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his
household, to give them meat in due season?
[46]Blessed is that servant, whom
his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
[47]Verily I say unto you, That he
shall make him ruler over all his goods.
1. SERVING GOD IN
THE LOCAL CHURCH WHILE WAITING FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD.
( I Timothy 1:12 ) And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord,
who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the
ministry;
2. SUPPORTING THE
MAN OF GOD IN THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD WHILE WAITING FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD.
( 1 Thessalonians
5:12-14 ) [12]And we
beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in
the Lord, and admonish you;
[13]And to esteem them very highly
in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
[14]Now we exhort you, brethren,
warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be
patient toward all men.
3. EQUIPPING THE NEW BELIEVERS OF CHRIST WHILE WAITING
FOR THE SOON COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
( Ephesians 4:11-16
) [11]And he
gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers;
[12]For the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
[13]Till we all come in the unity
of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto
the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
[14]That we henceforth be no more
children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by
the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to
deceive;
[15]But speaking the truth in
love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
[16]From whom the whole body fitly
joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to
the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.
4. SUPPORTING MORE MISSIONS AND SENDING MORE MISSIONARIES
TO THE REGIONS BEYOND WHILE WAITING FOR THE SOON COMING OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST.
( Philippians
4:15-16 ) [15]Now ye
Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed
from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and
receiving, but ye only.
[16]For even in Thessalonica ye
sent once and again unto my necessity.
5. FULLFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION
OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WHILE WAITING FOR HIS SOON COMING.
( Matthew 28: 19-20
) [19]Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[20]Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen.
