GOD TESTS THE CHRISTIAN OF THEIR GENUINE LOVE TO HIM.
Genesis 22:1-13 [1]And it came to pass after these
things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said,
Behold, here I am.
[2]And he said, Take now thy son,
thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah;
and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will
tell thee of.
[3]And Abraham rose up early in
the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and
Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went
unto the place of which God had told him.
[4]Then on the third day Abraham
lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
[5]And Abraham said unto his young
men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship,
and come again to you.
[6]And Abraham took the wood of
the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his
hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
[7]And Isaac spake unto Abraham
his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said,
Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
[8]And Abraham said, My son, God
will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them
together.
[9]And they came to the place
which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood
in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
[10]And Abraham stretched forth
his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
[11]And the angel of the LORD
called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am
I.
[12]And he said, Lay not thine
hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou
fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
[13]And Abraham lifted up his
eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns:
and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in
the stead of his son.
* INTRODUCTION:
* Abraham our good model for showing his deep love to God.

( Genesis 22:13-18 )
[13]And
Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a
thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for
a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
[14]And Abraham called the name of
that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it
shall be seen.
[15]And the angel of the LORD
called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
[16]And said, By myself have I
sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not
withheld thy son, thine only son:
[17]That in blessing I will bless
thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven,
and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the
gate of his enemies;
[18]And in thy seed shall all the
nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
1. GOD TEST THE GENUINE LOVE OF CHURCH IN THEIR
FAITHFULNESS TO WORSHIP HIM.
*( Acts 2:46-47 ) [46]And they, continuing daily
with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat
their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
[47]Praising God, and having
favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as
should be saved.
2. GOD TEST THE GENUINE LOVE OF THE
CHURCH BY THEIR PRAYERFULNESS TO HIM.
* ( Acts 1:13-15 ) [13]And when they were come in,
they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John,
and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of
Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
[14]These all continued with one
accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of
Jesus, and with his brethren.
[15]And in those days Peter stood
up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were
about an hundred and twenty,)
3. GOD THE GENUINE LOVE OF THE CHURCH IN SUPPORTING THE
MAN OF GOD IN THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD.
*( Acts 6:4-7 ) [4]But we will give ourselves
continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
[5]And the saying pleased the
whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy
Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and
Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
[6]Whom they set before the
apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
[7]And the word of God increased;
and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great
company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
4. GOD TEST THE GENUINE LOVE OF CHURCH IN GIVING THEIR
TITHES AND OFFERINGS FAITHFULLY.
( Malachi 3:10-12 ) [10]Bring ye all the tithes into
the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive
it.
[11]And I will rebuke the devourer
for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither
shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of
hosts.
[12]And all nations shall call you
blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
5. GOD TEST THE GENUINE LOVE OF THE CHURCH TO HIM BY
ZEALOUNESS AND FAITHFULNESS IN FULLFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST.
*( Mathew 28:18-20 )
[18]And
Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven
and in earth.
[19]Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost:
[20]Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen.
6. GOD TEST GENUINE LOVE OF THE
CHURCH TO HIM BY BEING FAITHTFULL SERVING GOD IN THE LOCAL CHURCH TILL JESUS
CHRIST COMES BACK.
* ( Philippians
1:5-6 ) [5]For
your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
[6]Being confident of this very
thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the
day of Jesus Christ:
* Conclusion:
* God test Abraham of his genuine love to Him by asking his only son
Isaac to offering to Him. Let me ask you this dear brother and sister's in
Christ are you also willing to give the things very precious to you to God?
* What are those things you think very precious to you that you and i
are willing to give to God?
* God bless you all always *
