[L] [PREACHING LESSON 12:] A MODEL CHURCH IS ALWAYS PATTERN WITH THE LIFE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

A MODEL CHURCH IS ALWAYS PATTERN WITH THE LIFE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

( John 17:1-4 ) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

1. PATTERN IN WORSHIPPING GOD THE FATHER IN HIS TEMPLE.

( Hebrews 10:25 ) 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

* ( John 4:23-24 ) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

* ( Psalms 122:1 ) I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

2. PATTERN IN SERVING GOD INSIDE THE LOCAL CHURCH.

( 1 Corinthians 12:12-18 ) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

3. PATTERN IN OBEYING GOD THE FATHER.

( John  17 6-7 ) 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

4. PATTERN IN PRAYING TO GOD THE FATHER.

( Luke 18:1 ) And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

* ( Mathew 26: 39-40 ) And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

4. PATTERN IN SANTIFIYING THEMSELVES BEFORE THIS WICKED WORLD.

( John  16-19 )They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

5. PATTERN IN LOVING AND WINNING LOST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.

( Mathew 9:36-38 ) And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

6. PATTERN IN GIVING TO THE WORK OF THE LORD.

( II Corthians 8:9 ) 9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

* ( II Corinthians 9:6-7 ) 6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

* ( Acts 20:35 ) I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

* God bless you all always *
