THE KIND
OF CHRISTIAN THAT CAN BE A BLESSING AND EFFECTIVE HELPER IN THE WORK OF THE
LORD
ACTS 6:4-7 "But
we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Acts 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a
man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and
Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch : Acts 6:6
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid [their]
hands on them. Acts 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the
disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests
were obedient to the faith."
Introduction:
The
work of the Lord is great and we need effective helper in order to fulfill the
great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ.
PSALMS 111:2-3 "The
works of the Lord [are] great, sought out of all them that have pleasure
therein. Pss 111:3 His work [is] honourable and glorious: and his righteousness
endureth for ever."
Jerusalem
Church is our good example of the kind of Christians who are very effective
helper in the ministry of the Lord.
CBBC
Church members can be like Jerusalem church as effective and good helper in the
great ministry of the Lord.
Five
(5) Great Truths:
I. THE
COMMITTED CHRISTIAN IS EFFECTIVE HELPER AND BLESSING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD
ACTS 6:4 "But
we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the
word."
Committed
Christians were committing themselves to the ministry of the Lord.
We
need many committed Christians to be a helper in many ministries of the church.
ROMANS 12:4-7 "For
as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Rom 12:5 So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one
of another. Rom 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is
given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of
faith; Rom 12:7 Or ministry, [let us wait] on [our] ministering: or he that
teacheth, on teaching;"
Committed
church who fulfill the Great Commission expect great victory in the ministry of
the Lord.
II.
THE CONSISTENT CHRISTIAN IS EFFECTIVE HELPER AND BLESSING IN THE WORK OF THE
LORD
ACTS 6:4, 7 "But
we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in
Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the
faith."
Consistency-
always acting or behaving in the same way ; of the same quality; especially:
good each time ; continuing to happen or develop in the same way.
We are
consistent in doing the work of the Lord until Jesus comes.
PHILIPPIANS 1:6 "Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will
perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:"
Consistent
Christian in helping the work the Lord expects great things from the Lord.
PSALMS 126:2-3 "Then
was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they
among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. Pss 126:3 The Lord
hath done great things for us; [whereof] we are glad."
III. THE CONSECRATED CHRISTIAN IS EFFECTIVE HELPER AND
BLESSING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD
ACTS 6:5 "And
the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of
faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon,
and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:"
Consecrated
- dedicated to a sacred purpose.
They
were sanctified God's people in order to be effective in the Ministry of the
Lord.
1 PETER 3:15 "But
sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer
to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness
and fear:"
God
will use a holy and honorable vessel in His great Ministry.
2 TIMOTHY 2:21 "If a
man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good
work."
IV. THE COMPASSIONATE CHRISTIAN IS EFFECTIVE HELPER AND
BLESSING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD
ACTS 6:7 "And
the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in
Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the
faith."
The
Lord Jesus Christ is best example having compassionate heart for the lost
sinners.
MATTHEW 9:36-37 "But
when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Mt 9:37 Then
saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the
labourers [are] few;"
Paul
also have compassionate heart for the lost because he prayed the Israelite
sinners to be saved.
ROMANS 10:1 "Brethren,
my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be
saved."
The
church should have a big heart and compassionate for the lost souls to be
saved.
PHILIPPIANS 1:9 "And
this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and [in]
all judgment;"
2 CORINTHIANS 5:14 "For
the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for
all, then were all dead:"
V. THE
CO-LABOURER CHRISTIAN IS EFFECTIVE HELPER AND A BLESSING IN THE WORK OF THE
LORD.
1 CORINTHIANS 3:8-10 "[8]
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive
his own reward according to his own labour. [9] For we are labourers together
with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. [10] According to the
grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the
foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he
buildeth thereupon."
God
chosen the Christians to be friends and partners in the work of the Lord.
JOHN 15:13-16 "[13]
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [15]
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord
doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my
Father I have made known unto you. [16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have
chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that
your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my
name, he may give it you."
Christ
Challenge His Church to pray for more partners and labourers in His vineyard.
LUKE 10:1-3 "[1]
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and
two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
[2] Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers
are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth
labourers into his harvest. [3] Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs
among wolves."
MATTHEW 9:37-38 "[37]
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
labourers are few; [38] Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will
send forth labourers into his harvest."
