A GOOD DESIRE OF SPIRITUAL MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:1-7 "The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5 A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: 6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. 7 The fear of the Lord [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction."

 

Introduction:

a. God's plan and desire for all the believers of Christ is to be spiritual and the word of God is the source of being a spiritual Christians in the sight of God.

 

MATTHEW 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

 

JOSHUA 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

 

b. Spiritual Christians are the most matured faithful, and soul-winners inside the local church.

 

ACTS 6:5-6 "And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid [their] hands on them."

c. Spiritual Christians are always a blessing to the church and a great help of God's servant for the growth of the church.

 

ACTS 6:7 "And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith."

 

I. BE A KNOWING MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:2 "To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;"

 

a. A spiritual Christian will always desire to know more of the wisdom of God.

 

PROVERBS 4:5-7 "Get wisdom, get understanding: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7 Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."

 

b. Lack of wisdom destroys the life of Gods people.

 

HOSEA 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

 

c. There are lots of benefits and blessing for knowing the wisdom of God.

 

PSALMS 19:7-11 Pss 19:7 The law of the Lord [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord [is] sure, making wise the simple.

Pss 19:8 The statutes of the Lord [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.

Pss 19:9 The fear of the Lord [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord [are] true [and] righteous altogether.

Pss 19:10 More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Pss 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] great reward.

II. BE A LEARNING MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:3 "To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;"

 

a. The Christians who acquire the instruction of God are the one who continue in the way of the Lord.

 

2 TIMOTHY 3:14 "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];"

 

b. This is the way to be safe from all the false teaching of false teachers.

 

2 CORINTHIANS 10:13-15 2Cor 10:15 Not boasting of things without [our] measure, [that is], of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

 

c. The learner Christians are good and effective partner of God in His ministry.

 

2TIMOTHY 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

 

III. BE A GROWING MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:4-5 "To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5 A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:"

 

a. God's plan for the Christians is to grow in grace continually.

 

2PETER 3:18 2Pet 3:18 But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.

 

b. A growing Christian is also a glowing Christian inside the local church.

 

MATTHEW 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

 

c. God provided the church of able and spiritual man to help the new believers and weak Christians and to help them grow spiritually.

 

EPHESIANS 4:16 Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

 

IV. BE AN UNDERSTANDING MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:6 "To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings."

 

a. The understanding Christians are the strongest Christians inside the local church.

2TIMOTHY 2:1 "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."

 

b. They are faithful man qualified to be the soul-winners of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

2TIMOTHY 2:2 "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

 

c. They are the committed soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

2TIMOTHY 2:3-4 2Tim 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

2Tim 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

 

V. BE A FEARING MAN

 

PROVERBS 1:7 "The fear of the Lord [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction."

 

a. The God-fearing Christians are blessed Christians in His sight.

 

PSALMS 128:1 "Blessed [is] every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways."

 

b. The God-fearing Christians are blessed of a fruitful and happy family.

 

PSALMS 128:2-3 Pss 128:2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy [shalt] thou [be], and [it shall be] well with thee.

Pss 128:3 Thy wife [shall be] as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

 

c. The God-fearing Christians are very close to the heart of God.

 

PSALMS 128:4-6 Pss 128:4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.

Pss 128:5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

Pss 128:6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, [and] peace upon Israel.

 

6. BE A FRUITFUL MAN.

 

( Psalms 92:12-14 ) [12]The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

[13]Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

[14]They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

* God is glorified with fruitful life of the Christian.

( John 15:8 ) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

( John 15:16 ) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
