GOD’S WAY
FOR GOD’S PEOPLE
PSALMS 27:1-6 Pss 27:1 The
Lord [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord [is] the
strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Pss 27:2 When the wicked, [even] mine enemies and
my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Pss 27:3 Though an host should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this [will] I
[be] confident.
Pss 27:4 One [thing] have I desired of the Lord,
that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days
of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
Pss 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide
me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall
set me up upon a rock.
Pss 27:6 And now shall mine head be lifted up
above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle
sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Introduction:
God
used the life experience of King David as the basis of God's care and
protection for His people in times of trouble and trials in the Christian life.
PSALMS 27:3 "Though
an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should
rise against me, in this [will] I [be] confident."
Our
enemy the Devil is always ready to attack Christians at all times and at all
costs, but King David was confident in God's perfect protection.
PSALMS 91:2-3 "I
will say of the Lord, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I
trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from
the noisome pestilence."
6
Great Things About God's Way for God's People:
1. THE
WAY OF PEACE FOR HIS PEOPLE
PSALMS 27:1-3 Pss 27:1 The
Lord [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord [is] the
strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Pss 27:2 When the wicked, [even] mine enemies and
my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Pss 27:3 Though an host should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this [will] I
[be] confident.
God's
way is to assure Christians that they can look to a God who is greater than any
spiritual enemy.
1 JOHN 4:4 "Ye
are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that
is in you, than he that is in the world."
Make
the Lord your light, salvation, and strength. God will give us perfect strength
to face our spiritual enemy with courage.
EPHESIANS 6:10-12 Eph 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
ISAIAH 26:12 "Lord,
thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in
us."
2. THE
WAY OF PRIORITY FOR HIS PEOPLE
PSALMS 27:4 Pss 27:4
One [thing] have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may
dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of
the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
God's
way for God's people is to seek the Lord first. King David sought God first
instead of fearing or running from the enemy. God is the source of our perfect
strength.
ISAIAH 40:31 Isa 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount
up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall
walk, and not faint.
MATTHEW 6:33 Mt 6:33 But
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you.
3. THE
WAY OF PROTECTION FOR HIS PEOPLE
PSALMS 27:5-6 Pss 27:5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of
his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Pss 27:6 And now shall mine head be lifted up
above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle
sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
The
perfect protection of the Christian is to be faithful to the Lord within the
local church.
1 TIMOTHY 1:12 1Tim 1:12
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me
faithful, putting me into the ministry;
HEBREWS 6:10 Heb 6:10
For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye
have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do
minister.
EZEKIEL 14:17, 20 Eze 14:17
Or [if] I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so
that I cut off man and beast from it: Isa 40:20 He that [is] so
impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree [that] will not rot; he
seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, [that] shall not
be moved.
4. THE
WAY OF PRAISE FOR HIS PEOPLE
PSALMS 27:6 Pss 27:6
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me:
therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I
will sing praises unto the Lord.
God’s
way for His people is to give praises to the Lord and worship Him in spirit and
in truth.
JOHN 4:23-24 Jn 4:23 But
the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father
in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Jn 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship
him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
1 PETER 2:9 1Pet 2:9
But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called
you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
5.
GOD'S WAY OF PROSPERITY FOR HIS PEOPLE
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6 2Cor 9:6
But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he
which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
MALACHI 3:10 Mal 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine
house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open
you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not
[be room] enough [to receive it].
6.
GOD'S WAY OF PRODUCTIVITY FOR THE CHRISTIAN
PSALMS 126:5-6 Pss 126:5
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Pss 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing
precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves
[with him].
ACTS 6:4 Acts 6:4
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the
word.
Conclusion:
These
are God's ways for His people to ensure His perfect protection against our
spiritual enemy, even in times of trouble and trials.
GOD
BLESS YOU ALL.
