[KK] [PREACHING LESSON 20:] YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS GOD SAID

YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS GOD SAID

MATTHEW 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

Introduction:

From the mouth of the Lord Jesus, He personally spoke this important instruction to His disciples that a true Christian cannot serve two Masters. Amen!

What Jesus said is that we will loathe our former master, the Devil, and you will love your new Master, our Lord Jesus.

5 Important Challenges Regarding Worthy Service to our Lord

I. GOD DESERVES TO GIVE OUR LOYALTY TO HIM.

Our loyalty is worthily given to God.

PSALMS 23:1 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

King David’s testimony of how faithful he was to his Lord, that for him, the Lord was enough in his life.

Joshua and his family dedicated their lives to serving God alone.

(JOSHUA 24:15) "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

II. GOD DESERVES TO GIVE OUR PRIORITY TO HIM.

Putting God first is worthily given to Him.

MATTHEW 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

God Himself commands His disciples to always put Him first, and this comes with an equivalent of abundant blessings for every Christian.

King David promised God that every day of his life he would praise the name of the Lord, and this would be forever and ever.

(PSALMS 145:1-2) (V.1) "I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever." (V.2) "Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever."

III. GOD DESERVES TO GIVE OUR SINCERITY TO HIM.

Our being sincere is worthily given to God.

PSALMS 95:1-3 (V.1) "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation." (V.2) "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms." (V.3) "For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

King David was sincere in approaching the presence of God and giving thanks.

King David was sincere in declaring that God is the great God in his life.

The local Church in Jerusalem was truly sincere to the Lord.

PSALMS 95:3 "For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods,"

ACTS 5:28-29 (V.28) "Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." (V.29) "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

IV. GOD DESERVES TO GIVE OUR CONSISTENCY TO HIM.

Our perseverance is worthily given to God.

PHILIPPIANS 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"

God challenges us to continue our faithful service to Him until the return of the Lord Jesus.

God challenges us to take advantage of all times in our service to Him.

(GALATIANS 6:9-10) (V.9) "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (V.10) "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

V. GOD DESERVES TO GIVE OUR PRODUCTIVITY TO HIM.

Our being fruitful is worthily given to God.

JOHN 15:8 "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples."

A fruitful Christian life is evidence that we are true disciples of the Lord Jesus.

Paul challenges us to always abound in service to God; and assures us that our service to the Lord will not be in vain.

I CORINTHIANS 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

Conclusion:

It is absolutely impossible for us to serve two masters because He wants us to surrender our lives to God, for God seeks your total faithfulness to Him.

MATTHEW 24:45-46 (V.45) "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?" (V.46) "Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing."
