GIVING THE
TEMPLE OF GOD THE MOST IMPORTANT PLACE IN THE LIFE OF THE CHRISTIAN.
( Psalms 84:1-8 ) How
amiable [are] thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! a
Pss 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my
heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
Pss 84:3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for
herself, where she may lay her young, [even] thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my
King, and my God.
Pss 84:4 Blessed [are] they that dwell in thy house: they will be still
praising thee. Selah.
Pss 84:5 Blessed [is] the man whose strength [is] in thee; in whose heart [are]
the ways [of them].
Pss 84:6 [Who] passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also
filleth the pools. b
Pss 84:7 They go from strength to strength, [every one of them] in Zion
appeareth before God. c
Pss 84:8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
I. THE PLACE OF SPIRITUAL PRIORITY IN
CHRISTIAN IN SEEKING GOD
( Psalms 84:1-2 )
1 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O
LORD of hosts!
2 My soul longeth, yea, even
fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the
living God.
( Psalms 122:1 ) I was
glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
( Mathew 6:33 ) But seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall
be added unto you.
II. THE PLACE OF GODS PRESENCE IN THE
TEMPLE OF GOD.
( V. 3, ) Yea, the
sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may
lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
Psalms 27:4 ) One
thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in
the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the
LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
III. THE PLACE OF PAISING GOD IN THE
HOUSE OF GOD.
( Psalms 84:4 ) Blessed
are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
( 1 Chronicles 16:27-29 )
27 Glory and honour are in his
presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds
of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
29 Give unto the LORD the glory due
unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the
beauty of holiness.
IV. THE PLACE OF GODS POWER FOR
SPIRITUAL STRENGTH OF GODS PEOPLE.
( V.5-7 )
5 Blessed is the man whose strength
is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 Who passing through the valley of
Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
7 They go from strength to strength,
every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
V. THE PLACE OF GODS PEOPLE FOR
PRAYER IN THE HOUSE OF GOD.
( V. 8 ) O LORD
God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
( Jeremiah 33:3 )
Call unto me, and I will answer
thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
