THE PRAYER OF THE CHRISTIAN THAT TOUCHES
GOD
"God
responds to the prayers of Christians that touch His heart by answering
them."
(JEREMIAH 33:3) “Call unto
me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou
knowest not.”
a. God always
encourages Christians to come to Him and ask for what they need, and He will
answer.
b. King Solomon
was a good example of someone who responded to God's encouragement to come to
Him in prayer.
(2 CHRONICLES 1:7-12) 2Chr 1:7 In
that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall
give thee.
2Chr 1:8 And Solomon said unto God,
Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in
his stead.
2Chr 1:9 Now, O Lord God, let thy
promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a
people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
2Chr 1:10 Give me now wisdom and
knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge
this thy people, [that is so] great?
2Chr 1:11 And God said to Solomon,
Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or
honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but
hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people,
over whom I have made thee king:
2Chr 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge [is]
granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as
none of the kings have had that [have been] before thee, neither shall there
any after thee have the like.
Five (5) Simple
Prayers of the Christian that Touch God:
I. THE
PRAYER FOR THE SICK
(JAMES 5:13) “Is any
among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.”
a. God knows how
weak we are in the flesh. As we regularly experience physical sickness, we need
God's help to heal us.
(PSALMS 103:3) “Who
forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”
II. THE
PRAYER FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN
(1 JOHN 1:9) “If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us.”
a. God will
always answer the prayer of the Christian who asks for the forgiveness of their
sins.
b. God promises
to forgive our sins if we simply confess them before Him.
c. God calls
Christians blessed because they acknowledge their sins and humbly ask God for
forgiveness. Amen!
III. THE
PRAYER FOR THE SALVATION OF THE LOST
(ROMANS 10:1) “Brethren,
my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”
a. Paul was very
concerned for the salvation of his brethren, the Israelites, and prayed to God
very sincerely.
b. Even God the
Father and the Lord Jesus Christ desire for all men to be saved and come to the
knowledge of the truth.
c. The Jerusalem
Church prayed together for the salvation of their community. As a result, many
precious souls were saved.
IV. THE
PRAYER FOR THE SPIRITUAL REVIVAL OF THE CHRISTIAN
(PSALMS 85:6) “Wilt thou
not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?”
a. A great result
of the church's prayer is the revival of every child of God.
V. THE
PRAYER FOR SOUL-WINNERS AND THE HARVEST OF SOULS
a. Christ trained
many soul-winners in His time—about 70—and sent them to every place where there
were many people.
(LUKE 10:1-3) “After these
things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two... pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into
his harvest.”
God bless you
all.
