[J] [PREACHING LESSON 14:] SOME GOOD REASONS WHY GOD ALLOWS CHRISTIANS TO FACE CERTAIN CRISES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

 (Ilang magagandang dahilan kung bakit pinapayagan ng Diyos ang mga Kristiyano na harapin ang ilang mga krisis sa buhay Kristiyano.)

PHILIPPIANS 1:13-18 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other [places];
Php 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Php 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Php 1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Php 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Php 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.”

SALMS 37:3-8 “Trust in the Lord, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Pss 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Pss 37:5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
Pss 37:6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Pss 37:7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Pss 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.”

The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”

Introduction:

a.    Paul's example as a pastor is a good example.

b.    His imprisonment is an example of a barrier but we have a lesson to learn from it. God Himself gave permission for the problem Paul was experiencing.

Four (4) reasons why God allows to face certain crises in the Christian life:

I. GOD ALLOWS THE CHRISTIAN TO FACE CERTAIN CRISES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE TO TEST THE UNITY AND SINCERITY OF THEIR WORK WITH GOD

EPHESIANS 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

a.    Paul's imprisonment became God's way of examining whether Christians in Philippi were united in the work.

b.    Paul found out and evaluated that the church at Philippi was not sincere to the Lord and that they would have real trouble without the pastor guiding them.

PHILIPPIANS 1:16-17 “The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Php 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.”

c.     God's challenge to the local church is for them to have complete unity within the local church.

PSALMS 133:1-3 “Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Pss 133:2 [It is] like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, [even] Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
Pss 133:3 As the dew of Hermon, [and as the dew] that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, [even] life for evermore.”

II. GOD ALLOWS THE CHRISTIAN TO FACE CERTAIN CRISES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE TO TEST THEIR STRONG FAITH IN HIM

HEBREWS 11:32-34 “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and [of] Barak, and [of] Samson, and [of] Jephthae; [of] David also, and Samuel, and [of] the prophets:
Heb 11:33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”

EPHESIANS 5:1-2 “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

a.    Christians have experienced severe persecution from the world but they succeeded because they had strong faith in God.

b.    Mentioned are some of the names of God's servants who have succeeded because of their faith.

c.     Let us always have strong faith in God during the difficult trials of life.

III. GOD ALLOWS THE CHRISTIAN TO FACE CERTAIN CRISES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE TO TEST WHETHER WE WILL PLACE OUR TRUST IN HIM

2CORINTHIANS 1:4-10 “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Cor 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
2Cor 1:6 And whether we be afflicted, [it is] for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, [it is] for your consolation and salvation.
2Cor 1:7 And our hope of you [is] stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so [shall ye be] also of the consolation.
2Cor 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
2Cor 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
2Cor 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us];”

a.    God is ready to comfort us as we face the serious problems of life.

b.    God has promised to help the Christian at all times.

2CORINTHIANS 1:10 “Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us];”

IV. GOD ALLOWS THE CHRISTIAN TO FACE CERTAIN CRISES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE TO TEST OUR PERFECT OBEDIENCE TO FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION

ACTS 5:26-29 “Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
Acts 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council: and the high priest asked them,
Acts 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
