[J] [PREACHING LESSON 12:] WHY IS THERE SO MUCH JOY IN HEAVEN FOR ONE REPENTANT SINNER?

LUKE 15:3-7 “And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
Lk 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
Lk 15:5 And when he hath found [it], he layeth [it] on his shoulders, rejoicing.
Lk 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together [his] friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
Lk 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

Introduction:

a.    The Lord Jesus is the one who truly expresses great joy because of a sinner who has repented of their sin and experienced the salvation of their souls.

b.    This lesson is a challenge to all Christians so that we all care even for a soul that needs the salvation of their soul.

Five (5) important things to know about this topic:

I. BECAUSE GOD’S ENEMY THE DEVIL IS DEFEATED FOR A SAVED SOUL

ACTS 16:30-31 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

a.    The devil is the worst enemy of God who blinds many sinners so that they will not recognize Christ Jesus the Savior.

2CORINTHIANS 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

b.    Satan has false prophets and false teachers to deceive many.

2CORINTHIANS 11:13-16 “For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Cor 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2Cor 11:15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
2Cor 11:16 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.”

II. BECAUSE GOD’S PEOPLE FAITHFULLY OBEYED THE GREAT COMMISSION

MARK 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

a.    The local church in Jerusalem was united in evangelizing their community and truly many were saved.

ACTS 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.”

b.    Paul is a good example of a faithful soulwinner.

1CORINTHIANS 9:19 “For though I be free from all [men], yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.”

c.     Philip was also a good example of a faithful soulwinner.

ACTS 8:5 “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.”

d.    Peter was a faithful soulwinner.

1PETER 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”

III. BECAUSE GOD’S PEOPLE IN HEAVEN HAVE MULTIPLIED

HEBREWS 11:15-16 “And truly, if they had been mindful of that [country] from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better [country], that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”

a.    Every saved soul becomes part of God's family in heaven.

JOHN 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:”

b.    Saved people have their name written on the book of life.

LUKE 10:20 “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”

IV. BECAUSE GOD’S PLAN AND DESIRE FOR THE LOST WERE FULFILLED

1TIMOTHY 2:4 “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

a.    God does not want anyone to perish in the place of hell.

2PETER 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

JUDE 23 “And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

CONCLUSION:

Rejoicing in heaven because the local church is truly blessed by God with full growth.

ACTS 6:7 “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.”

ACTS 2:47 “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

GOD BLESS YOU ALL
