GOD’S GREAT ASSURANCE TO THE PRAYERFUL AND
RIGHTEOUS IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
(PSALM 34:17-18) “The
righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their
troubles. 18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth
such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Introduction
God promises to
answer the prayers of the righteous, but He rejects the prayers of those whose
hearts are not right with Him.
(1 PETER 3:12) “For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their
prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
The Great
Benefits of a Righteous, Prayerful Christian:
I.
STABILITY IN THE MIDST OF GREAT TROUBLES
(PSALM 34:17) “The
righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their
troubles.”
(1 PETER 5:10) “But the God
of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle
you.”
A. Our Anchor: In
the midst of life's storms, a solid relationship with God serves as your
anchor.
B. Divine Favor:
God will always bless the righteous.
(PSALM 11:7) “For the
righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”
II.
SECURITY AGAINST THE ATTACKS OF THE ENEMY
(EPHESIANS 6:11–13, 18) “Put on the
whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the
devil... 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be
able to withstand in the evil day... 18 Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit...”
A. The Greatest
Weapon: A Christian’s best defense against the Devil is to "pray without
ceasing."
B. Divine
Protection: Christians are perfectly protected under the shadow of God's wings.
(PSALM 91:1-2) “He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of
the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge...”
III.
SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITY IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
(PROVERBS 4:7) “Wisdom is
the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get
understanding.”
A. Spiritual
Awareness: God provides greater spiritual understanding and an increased
awareness of the needs of others.
B. The Holy
Spirit’s Guidance: The Spirit of Truth guides and provides wisdom to God’s
people.
(JOHN 16:13) “Howbeit
when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth...”
Conclusion:
The righteous can
have great expectations of what God will do in their lives.
(PSALM 126:2-3) “Then was
our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they
among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. 3 The Lord hath
done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
May God bless you
all always.
