HOW DID THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE
APOSTLES WIN AND BAPTIZE SO MANY SOULS FOR GOD'S GLORY?
1. THEY
FOCUSED SOLELY ON WINNING LOST PEOPLE AT ANY COST.
( Acts 5:26-29 ) [26]Then
went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they
feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
[27]And when they had brought them,
they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
[28]Saying, Did not we straitly
command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled
Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
[29]Then Peter and the other
apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
2. THEY
FOLLOWED THE STRATEGY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IN WINNING THE LOST.
( John 9:4-5 ) [4]I must
work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no
man can work.
[5]As long as I am in the world, I
am the light of the world.
3. THEY
GRABBED THE OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED BY GOD-GIVEN VISIONS TO WIN THE LOST PEOPLE
( Acts 16:8-10 ) [8]And they
passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
[9]And a vision appeared to Paul in
the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over
into Macedonia, and help us.
[10]And after he had seen the
vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering
that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
( Proverbs 29:18 ) Where there
is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
4. THEY
APPLIED PERFECT UNITY WHILE DOING THE LORD’S WORK TO FULFILL THE GOSPEL OF
CHRIST.
( Psalms 133:1-3 ) [1]Behold,
how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
[2]It is like the precious ointment
upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down
to the skirts of his garments;
[3]As the dew of Hermon, and as the
dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the
blessing, even life for evermore.
5. THEY RELIED
ON THE HANDS OF GOD FOR VICTORY IN THE HARVEST OF PRECIOUS SOULS.
( Acts 11:20-24 ) [20]And some
of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch,
spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
[21]And the hand of the Lord was
with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
[22]Then tidings of these things
came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth
Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
[23]Who, when he came, and had seen
the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart
they would cleave unto the Lord.
[24]For he was a good man, and full
of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
6. THE
JERUSALEM CHURCH KNEW THAT THE KEY TO GROWTH WAS SOUL-WINNING AND BAPTIZING NEW
BELIEVERS.
( Acts 6:4-6 ) [4]But we
will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
[5]And the saying pleased the whole
multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost,
and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a
proselyte of Antioch:
[6]Whom they set before the
apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
[7]And the word of God increased;
and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great
company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
