[II] [PREACHING LESSON 18:] WHAT IF THE CHURCH DOES NOT STOP PRAYING AT THE THRONE OF GOD’S GRACE?

WHAT IF THE CHURCH DOES NOT STOP PRAYING AT THE THRONE OF GOD’S GRACE?

(HEBREWS 4:16) “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Introduction:

a. Christ encourages His disciples to pray always.

(LUKE 18:1) “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”

b. Paul encouraged Christians to pray without ceasing.

(1 THESSALONIANS 5:17) “Pray without ceasing.”

Five (5) Great Experiences of God’s People:

I. GOD’S GREAT SUPPLY WILL NOT CEASE

(PHILIPPIANS 4:19) “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

a. Jabez prayed always, and God granted all his prayer requests.

(1 CHRONICLES 4:10) “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

b. In Jeremiah 33:3, God promises those who continue praying and claiming His promises that they can expect multiple answers from their nonstop prayer life.

(JEREMIAH 33:3) “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

II. GOD’S GREAT PROTECTION WILL NOT CEASE

(PSALMS 91:1-5) “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty...”

b. As our good Heavenly Father, God is always ready to help and protect His dear children from harm. He never sleeps nor slumbers, ensuring all His children are safe.

(PSALMS 121:4-7) “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand...”

III. GREAT VICTORY OVER THE DEVIL WILL NOT CEASE

(1 JOHN 4:4) “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

a. The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of our victory.

(1 CORINTHIANS 15:57) “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

b. God gives us perfect strength to face our spiritual enemy, the Devil. (EPHESIANS 6:10-11) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

IV. THE GREAT HARVEST OF PRECIOUS SOULS WILL NOT CEASE

(ACTS 2:41) “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

a. Christians prayed for more souls to be saved, and God answered their prayers.

(ROMANS 10:1) “Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”

b. The Jerusalem church maintained united prayer in the upper room with 120 members.

(ACTS 1:13-15) “And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room... 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication...”

V. THE GREAT HOPE OF CHRISTIANS WILL NOT CEASE

(TITUS 2:13) “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

a. We are challenged to remain faithful in prayer until Jesus returns. (PHILIPPIANS 1:6) “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

b. Jesus Christ is our hope of glory. (COLOSSIANS 1:27) “...which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
