WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT STOP PRAYING FOR
THE SALVATION OF LOST SINNERS?
(ROMANS 10:1) “Brethren,
my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”
Introduction:
a. It is always
God’s desire that many lost people be saved every day, every hour, every
minute, and every second.
b. God does not
want anyone to perish in hell.
(2 PETER 3:9) “The Lord is
not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.”
Five (5) great
reasons why Christians must not stop praying for the salvation of lost sinners:
I. BECAUSE
GOD IS STILL OPENING THE HEARTS OF THE LOST
(ACTS 16:14) “And a
certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which
worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto
the things which were spoken of Paul.”
Thank you, Lord,
for this great opportunity. God still provides opportunities to reach more lost
sinners, and the Holy Spirit is the one who opens the hearts of the people.
II.
BECAUSE GOD IS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF SAVING LOST PEOPLE
We must pray for
a greater harvest of precious souls.
(ACTS 2:41) “Then they
that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added
unto them about three thousand souls.”
a. The Jerusalem
Church took every opportunity to reach the lost at any cost. Christians today
also have the opportunity to reach their loved ones, friends, and neighbors
with the Gospel of Christ.
(ACTS 5:42) “And daily
in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus
Christ.”
(ACTS 2:47) “Praising
God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church
daily such as should be saved.”
b. God is still
in the business of saving the lost. Let us take this great opportunity to share
the Gospel with as many people as we can.
c. Praise God for
our country, where we have the liberty to share the Gospel. Amen!
III.
BECAUSE GOD IS STILL GIVING A VISION FOR THE HARVEST
Let us pray for
more laborers to harvest souls for Christ.
(LUKE 10:1-2) “After these
things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before
his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore
said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into
his harvest.”
a. The Lord Jesus
Christ trains more soul-winners and laborers for the harvest.
(JOHN 4:35) “Say not ye,
There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you,
Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to
harvest.”
b. Christ
encourages us to lift our eyes and look at the fields, for they are already
"white" (ripe) for harvest.
c. We are now in
the harvest season. Dear brethren in Christ, let us reach them through the
Gospel.
(PROVERBS 29:18) “Where there
is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
IV.
BECAUSE GOD IS STILL GIVING POWER TO BE EFFECTIVE WITNESSES
We must pray for
the power of the Holy Spirit.
(ACTS 1:8) “But ye
shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto
the uttermost part of the earth.”
a. Soul-winners
need the working power of the Holy Spirit to be effective in winning others to
Christ.
V. BECAUSE
GOD STILL DESIRES FOR ALL MEN TO BE SAVED
Let us pray for
our church members to fulfill God’s desire for more souls to be saved.
(ACTS 6:6-7) “Whom they
set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on
them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied
in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the
faith.”
(1 TIMOTHY 2:4) “Who will
have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
a. Christians,
listen to this: We do not believe in teachings that claim God has already
chosen certain people to go to "Hell." The Bible does not teach that!
God gave His only begotten Son, whose death was for the sins of all mankind.
This is why God desires for all mankind to be saved. He has never wanted anyone
to perish in Hell.
(2 PETER 3:9) “The Lord is
not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.”
b. Now,
Christians, let us be ready to go and preach the Gospel of Christ to all who
are lost.
God bless you
all!
