THE PRAYER THAT TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD
(1 PETER 3:12) “For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their
prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
I. THE
PRAYER OFFERED WITH A CLEAN HEART TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD.
(1 PETER 3:12) “For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their
prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
a. The holy God
always hears the prayers of Christians whose hearts are clean before Him.
(HEBREWS 10:22-23) “Let us draw
near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled
from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold
fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that
promised;)”
II. THE
PRAYER OFFERED WITH STRONG FAITH TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD.
(HEBREWS 11:6) “But without
faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
(MARK 11:22-24) “And Jesus
answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That
whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into
the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things
which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore
I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye
receive them, and ye shall have them.”
a. Great men of
God in the Old Testament are known to be victorious because of their strong
faith in God. (HEBREWS 11:32-34) “...Who through faith subdued
kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of
lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of
weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies
of the aliens.”
III. THE
PRAYER OFFERED WITH HUMILITY TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD.
(PSALM 34:18) “The LORD is
nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite
spirit.”
(ISAIAH 57:15) “For thus
saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I
dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and
humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of
the contrite ones.”
a. God will bring
revival to the prayer of a humble Christian.
(2 CHRONICLES 7:14) “If my
people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
b. God promises
to lift up the humble Christian.
(1 PETER 5:6) “Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due
time:”
IV. THE
PRAYER OFFERED WITH COURAGE TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD.
(DANIEL 6:9-13) “...Now when
Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his
windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees
three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime...”
a. We see the
story of how Daniel was blessed by God with His perfect protection when facing
the threat of being thrown into the lions' den for continuing to pray to our
living and true God.
b. God was with
Daniel inside the lions' den and protected Daniel from the hungry lions. Amen
and amen!
V. THE
PRAYER OFFERED WITH BOLDNESS TOUCHES THE HEART OF GOD.
(HEBREWS 4:16) “Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need.”
a. The boldness
of always coming to God in prayer assures that we will find grace, mercy, and
help from God.
b. God's grace is
sufficient for the prayerful Christian.
(2 CORINTHIANS 12:9) “And he said
unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in
weakness.”
God bless you
always!
