THE PRAYER OF GOD’S PEOPLE THAT BRINGS THE
CHURCH TO TOTAL REVIVAL
(2 CHRONICLES 7:14) “If my
people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Four (4)
Great Actions Required of the Church:
I. A
PRAYER OF HUMILITY
(JAMES 4:6-7) “But he
giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth
grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.”
a. God promises
to give grace to humble Christians who come to Him in prayer.
b. God is the God
of all grace; He is the one who will strengthen and establish the Christian.
(1 PETER 5:10) “But the God
of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle
you.”
II. A
PRAYER WITH A HEART TO SEEK THE FACE OF GOD
(1 CHRONICLES 16:11) “Seek the
LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.”
(1 CHRONICLES 22:19) “Now set
your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise, therefore, and build
the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of
the LORD and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for the
name of the LORD.”
a. Christians are
commanded by God to seek Him first in their lives.
b. God has
promised great and multiple blessings to those who seek Him first.
(MATTHEW 6:33) “But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you.”
III. A
PRAYER REPENTING OF SIN
(2 CHRONICLES 7:14) “...and turn
from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven...”
a. The evidence
of true revival within the local church is when Christians separate themselves
from worldliness.
(ROMANS 1:1) “Paul, a
servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of
God,”
(JOB 11:14) “If iniquity
be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy
tabernacles.”
b. God is willing
to forgive our sins if we confess them before Him.
(1 JOHN 1:9) “If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Note: King David
acknowledged his sin before God.
(PSALMS 32:1-5) “...I
acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will
confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my
sin.”
IV. A
PRAYER WITH HOPE FOR FORGIVENESS AND GOD’S HEALING
(2 CHRONICLES 7:14) “...and will
forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
a. God promises
to heal the land of His people if we turn away from our sins and obey His will
for us.
(PSALMS 103:1-3) “Bless the
LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name... Who
forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”
GOD BLESS YOU
ALL.
