YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE THE WAY GOD HAS PLANNED FOR THE CHRISTIAN
ROMANS 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God."
Introduction:
a. It is one thing to profess that you are a
Christian and it is another thing to live your Christian life like God has
planned with His children.
b. The true Christian needs to live out his
faith. A good place to start living out one's faith is Romans 12:1-2.
ROMANS 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God."
c. Christian is God's human instrument to
present the life of the Lord Jesus Christ to this dark and wicked world.
MATTHEW 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
5 Great truths to know and learn from Romans
12:1-2:
1. PAUL'S REQUEST TO CHRISTIANS
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by
the mercies of God..." (Romans 12:1)
a. Paul made strong request to Christians of
spiritual action in order for them to live the Christ in their own life also.
b. It is not easy to encourage following the
step of Christ if the one who encourages other Christians is not a good example
Christian.
1CORINTHIANS 11:1 "Be ye followers of me,
even as I also [am] of Christ."
c. Strong Christian inside the local church
can always be good instruments of God for new and weak Christian to live the
life Christ wants in their life.
GALATIANS 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I
live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for
me."
2. PAUL'S REQUIREMENT TO CHRISTIANS
"...that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service."
(Romans 12:1)
a. To present your bodies a living sacrifice
is what we are doing in worshipping God in spirit and in truth every Lord's Day
Worship Service and even in Wednesday worship service.
JOHN 4:23-24 "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the
true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the
Father seeketh such to worship him. Jn 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship [him in spirit and in truth."
b. God is a holy God and we need to come to
God with heart before Him.
1PETER 1:15-16 "But as he which hath called you is holy, so
be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1 Pet 1:16 Because it is written, Be
ye holy; for I am holy."
HEBREWS 10:22 "Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and
our bodies washed with pure water."
c. God promised His presence in the midst of
a congregation with a pure heart in worshipping Him.
MATTHEW 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together
in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
3. PAUL'S REFORMATION TO CHRISTIANS
"And be not conformed to this world: but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Romans 12:2)
a. Reformation -: the act or process of
improving something or someone by removing or correcting faults, problems, etc.
b. Paul commanded the Christians not to
conform or not to be equally yoke with the unbelievers.
2CORINTHIANS 6:14-15 "Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"
c. God's approval will always experience by
God's people who separate with sinful life of the worldly sinners.
2CORINTHIANS 6:16-18 "And what agreement hath
the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God
hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people. 2Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and
be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will
receive you, 2Cor 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
4. PAUL'S REASON TO CHRISTIANS
"...that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect. will of God." (Romans 12:2)
a. God is glorified and pleased by our worthy
worship to Him.
COLOSSIANS 1:10 "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto
all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the
knowledge of God;"
b. The Holy Spirit moves with power in the
midst of the church who worship God with total holiness of God's people.
EPHESIANS 3:19-21 "And to know the love of
Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness
of God. Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Eph 3:21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by
Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."
c. Our holy worship to God is good, pleasing,
and acceptable to Him.

5. PAUL’S REMINDER TO CHRISTIAN THAT IT IS
POSSIBLE TO WALK NOT IN THE FLESH BUT BY THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THEIR
LIFE.
( Galatians 5:16-18 ) [16]This I say then, Walk in
the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
[17]For the
flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these
are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye
would.
[18]But if
ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
