[G] [PREACHING LESSON 4:] LIVING YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE THE WAY GOD HAS PLANNED FOR THE CHRISTIAN

LIVING YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE THE WAY GOD HAS PLANNED FOR THE CHRISTIAN

ROMANS 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Introduction:

a. It is one thing to profess that you are a Christian and it is another thing to live your Christian life like God has planned with His children.

b. The true Christian needs to live out his faith. A good place to start living out one's faith is Romans 12:1-2.

ROMANS 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

c. Christian is God's human instrument to present the life of the Lord Jesus Christ to this dark and wicked world.

MATTHEW 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

5 Great truths to know and learn from Romans 12:1-2:

1. PAUL'S REQUEST TO CHRISTIANS

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God..." (Romans 12:1)

a. Paul made strong request to Christians of spiritual action in order for them to live the Christ in their own life also.

b. It is not easy to encourage following the step of Christ if the one who encourages other Christians is not a good example Christian.

1CORINTHIANS 11:1 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ."

c. Strong Christian inside the local church can always be good instruments of God for new and weak Christian to live the life Christ wants in their life.

GALATIANS 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

2. PAUL'S REQUIREMENT TO CHRISTIANS

"...that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service." (Romans 12:1)

a. To present your bodies a living sacrifice is what we are doing in worshipping God in spirit and in truth every Lord's Day Worship Service and even in Wednesday worship service.

JOHN 4:23-24 "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Jn 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him in spirit and in truth."

b. God is a holy God and we need to come to God with heart before Him.

1PETER 1:15-16 "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1 Pet 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

HEBREWS 10:22 "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."

c. God promised His presence in the midst of a congregation with a pure heart in worshipping Him.

MATTHEW 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

3. PAUL'S REFORMATION TO CHRISTIANS

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Romans 12:2)

a. Reformation -: the act or process of improving something or someone by removing or correcting faults, problems, etc.

b. Paul commanded the Christians not to conform or not to be equally yoke with the unbelievers.

2CORINTHIANS 6:14-15 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

c. God's approval will always experience by God's people who separate with sinful life of the worldly sinners.

2CORINTHIANS 6:16-18 "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, 2Cor 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

4. PAUL'S REASON TO CHRISTIANS

"...that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect. will of God." (Romans 12:2)

a. God is glorified and pleased by our worthy worship to Him.

COLOSSIANS 1:10 "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

b. The Holy Spirit moves with power in the midst of the church who worship God with total holiness of God's people.

EPHESIANS 3:19-21 "And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  Eph 3:21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

c. Our holy worship to God is good, pleasing, and acceptable to Him.

ROMANS 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

5. PAUL’S REMINDER TO CHRISTIAN THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO WALK NOT IN THE FLESH BUT BY THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THEIR LIFE.

( Galatians 5:16-18 ) [16]This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

[17]For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

[18]But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

* God bless you all always *
