ENCOURAGEMENT
TO CHRISTIANS TO BE FAITHFUL TO THE LORD
PSALMS 31:23-24 "O love the
Lord, all ye his saints: [for] the Lord preserveth the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall
strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord."
Introduction
a. Christians always need encouragement in their
Christian life to remain faithful to the Lord. Parents should always encourage
their children to be faithful to the Lord. One of the most challenging jobs of
a servant of God is to motivate the people in the local church to remain
faithful to Him.
b. The Word of God is clear that only the Lord preserveth
the faithful. To preserve the faithful means that God allows you and me to live
on this planet with the purpose of being faithful to Him and being a blessing
to the local church.
Four Great Truths About Encouragement to Be Faithful
I.
LOVE THE LORD
PSALMS 31:23 Pss 31:23 O
love the Lord, all ye his saints: [for] the Lord preserveth the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
a.
Moses commanded the people of God to love the Lord.
DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5 "Hear,
O Israel: The Lord our God [is] one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."
b. The
Lord Jesus Christ reminded His disciples that obeying God's word is the true
manifestation of our love for God.
JOHN 14:15 "If ye
love me, keep my commandments."
c. The
love of Christ always constraineth Christians to continue reaching the lost at
any cost.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:14 "For
the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for
all, then were all dead."
II.
LIVE FOR THE LORD
PSALMS 31:23 Pss 31:23 O
love the Lord, all ye his saints: [for] the Lord preserveth the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
a.
Christians who live faithfully to the Lord are the most blessed by God’s
bountiful blessings.
PROVERBS 28:20 "A
faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich
shall not be innocent."
b. God
requires Christians to be faithful to Him to assure His approval as His chosen
servants in His vineyard.
JOHN 15:16 Jn 15:16 Ye
have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go
and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye
shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
c.
Paul commanded Timothy to commit the soul-winning ministry to faithful
Christians.
2 TIMOTHY 2:2 "And
the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit
thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
III.
LET THE LORD
PSALMS 31:23 Pss 31:23 O
love the Lord, all ye his saints: [for] the Lord preserveth the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
a. Let
God move and work in our lives. Do not let the flesh empower your life.
ROMANS 8:4-8 Rom 8:6 For
to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and
peace.
b. To
let God lead our lives is to walk in the Spirit.
GALATIANS 5:16, 25 "Walk
in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit.
c. Let
God lead because Christ lives in us.
GALATIANS 2:20 Gal 2:20 I
am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in
me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son
of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
IV.
LEAN ON THE LORD
PSALMS 31:24 Pss 31:24
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the
Lord.
a.
There is no other way for a Christian to continue in faithfulness than to lean
on the Lord.
PROVERBS 3:5-6 "Trust
in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding."
b. To
lean on God is choosing the strength of Christ to continue the Christian life.
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 "I can
do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
c.
True leaning on God is manifested in those who continue in His Word.
2 TIMOTHY 3:14-17 2Tim 3:14
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured
of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];
V.
LOOKING UNTO THE LORD
HEBREWS 12:1-2 Heb 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily
beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God.
Conclusion
Christians
always need encouragement to be faithful to the Lord to assure God's perfect
protection and blessing in the Christian life.
God
bless you all always.
