[FF] [PREACHING LESSON 8:] ENCOURAGEMENT FOR FAITHFUL GIVING TO GOD

 ENCOURAGEMENT FOR FAITHFUL GIVING TO GOD

( Acts 20:35 ) I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

I. GIVE TO WORSHIPFULLY.

(1 Corinthians 16:1-2) [1]Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

[2]Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

(Malachi 3:10-12) [10]Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

[11]And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

[12]And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

2. GIVE TO GOD SACRIFICIALLY.

( II Corinthians 8:1-5 ) [1]Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

[2]How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

[3]For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

[4]Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

[5]And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

3. GIVE TO GOD CHEERFULLY

( II Corinthians 9:7-8 ) [7]Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

[8]And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

4. GIVE TO GOD WILLINGLY

2 Corinthians 8:11-12 [11]Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

[12]For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

5. GIVE TO GOD LOVING AND SINCERITY.

( II Corinthians 8:8 ) I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

( II Corinthians 5:14 ) For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

* God bless you all always *
