[EE] [PREACHING LESSON 5:] GOD'S DOORWAY FOR THE CHRISTIANS TO ESCAPE FROM TEMPTATION

GOD'S DOORWAY FOR THE CHRISTIANS TO ESCAPE FROM TEMPTATION

( James 1:12-15) [12]Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

[13]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

[14]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

[15]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

* INTRODUCTION:

(John 8:44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

* What are the strategies and moves of the Devil that we Christians should watch for and be aware of?

1. He is a liar, the Bible said.

(Genesis 3:1-4) [1]Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

[2]And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

[3]But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

[4]And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

* What God said:

(Genesis 2:16-17) [16]And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

[17]But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

2. The Devil blinded the minds of those who believed not. The Bible said.

(2 Corinthians 4:4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

3. The false Christians will be used by Satan as if they are genuine Christians to deceive many.

(2 Corinthians 11:13-15) [13]For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

[14]And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

[15]Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

4. The Devil will deceive many about making the sign of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(2 Thessalonians 2:9-12) [9]Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

[10]And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

[11]And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

[12]That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

5. The Devil will work double time to tempt as many Christians as he can, and even the Lord Jesus Christ he also tempted.

( Matthew 4:1-11 ) [1]Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

[2]And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

[3]And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

[4]But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

[5]Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

[6]And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

[7]Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

[8]Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

[9]And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

[10]Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

[11]Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

5 GOOD AND GREAT DOORWAYS TO ESCAPE FROM TEMPTATION.

1. DAILY MEDITATION OF GOD'S WORD IS OUR DOORWAY.

( Joshua 1:8 ) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

2. DECISION TO FOLLOW THE STEP OF CHRIST IS OUR DOORWAY.

( I Peter 2:21 ) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

3. DEVOTE YOUR TIME TO PRAY TO GOD IS OUR DOORWAY.

( Hebrews 4:16 ) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

(2 Chronicles 7:14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

4. DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO SERVE HIM IS OUR DOORWAY.

( I Timothy 1:12 ) And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

5. DIE DAILY IN THE FLESH IS OUR DOORWAY.

( Romans 6:6-18 ) [6]Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

[7]For he that is dead is freed from sin.

[8]Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

[9]Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

[10]For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

[11]Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

[12]Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

[13]Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

[14]For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

[15]What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

[16]Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

[17]But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

[18]Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

* God bless you all always. *
