[DD] [PREACHING LESSON 8:] BIBLICAL FAITH FORMULA FOR GOD'S PEOPLE

BIBLICAL FAITH FORMULA FOR GOD'S PEOPLE

( James 1: 1-17 ) [1]James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

[2]My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

[3]Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

[4]But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

[5]If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

[6]But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

[7]For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

[8]A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

* INTRODUCTION:

a. All the great men of God faced and experienced of all kinds of trials in their Christian life. Job is the no. 1. God test his faith when the Devil put doubt of Jobs faithfulness of Job to God.

(Job 1:9-12) [9]Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

[10]Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

[11]But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

[12]And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

b. The Devil always watch the living of the Christian and he always puts doubts on how the Christian lives. He always gives doubts on every individual Christian in our spiritual living.

c. I believed the Devil is always winning on reproaching before for many Christians who are sincere and not truly faithful to in their Christian life. Examine the Christians in the Church of Corinthians. The Corinthians Church are branded as a carnal and Worldly Church.

1. MIXTURE OF TESTING.

( James 1:2-4 ) " trying of your faith worketh patience."

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work

a. God test the faith of the Christian and ways . God warn the Christians not to love the World.

( I John 2:15-17 ) [15]Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

[16]For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

[17]And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

b. But sad to say Demas choose to love the World and leave the Church and enjoy his life in Worldliness.

( II Timothy 4:10 ) For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

2. MIXTURE OF TEMPTING.

( James 1:12-16 ) " tempted...when draw away of own lust "

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

* Joseph was tempted by the wife of Pothiphar.

Genesis 39:7-21 [7]And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

[8]But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

[9]There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

[10]And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

[11]And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

[12]And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

[13]And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

[14]That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

[15]And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

[16]And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

[17]And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

[18]And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.

[19]And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

[20]And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

[21]But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison..

* This is the reason why the Christian should always be strong in their Christian life so that when we faced all kinds temptation we are strong enough to resist the devil in tempting us.

* Submit yourselves therefore to God and resist the devil the bible said.

( James 4:7-10 ) [7]Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

[8]Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

[9]Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

[10]Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

3. MIXTURE OF TRUSTING.

( James 1:5-8 ) " ask in faith nothing wavering "

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

* Put always our trust in God in times we faced trials and temptation in our Christian life.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

* The Lord Jesus Christ is our prime model to overcome temptation in Christian life.

( Matthew 4:2-4 ) [2]And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

[3]And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

[4]But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

4. MIXTURE OF THANKING.

( James 1:17-18 ) 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

* IN everything let us thank God whether good or bad experience we faced in our Christian life.

( 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

( Psalms 118:1-9 ) [1]O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

[2]Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

[3]Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

[4]Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

[5]I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.

[6]The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

[7]The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire3 upon them that hate me.

[8]It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

[9]It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

* God bless you all always *
