[DD] [PREACHING LESSON 3:] THE GENUINE MARKS OF THE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

THE GENUINE MARKS OF THE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

( Acts 1:8 ) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

1. THEY ARE ALWAYS GUIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.

( John 16:13 ) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

* The Holy Spirit is our perfect Partner in Soulwinning.

2. THEY ARE ALWAYS GIVES THE HEART AND DESIRE TO PRAY FOR THE SALVATION OF MANY LOST PEOPLE.

( Romans 10:1 ) [1]Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

[2]For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

[3]For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

* The Lord Jesus Christ gives much time to pray for the salvation of lost people.

* Jerusalem Church is our good model in faithfulness to pray for more lost people to be saved.

( Acts 6:4-7 ) [4]But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

[5]And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

[6]Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

[7]And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

3. THEY ARE ALWAYS EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. IN DOING THE WORK OF THE LORD.

( Acts 1:8 ) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

* Peter preached with the power of the Holy Spirit and the heart of the multitudes of people was touch and 3000 souls got saved.

( Acts 2:36-41 ) [36]Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

[37]Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

[38]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

[39]For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

[40]And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

[41]Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

4. THE ARE ALWAYS LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT TO RIGHT PLACE AND RIGHT PEOPLE TO WIN THEM TO CHRIST.

( Acts 8:26-39 ) [26]And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

[27]And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

[28]Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

[29]Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

[30]And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

[31]And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

[32]The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

[33]In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

[34]And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

[35]Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

[36]And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

[37]And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

[38]And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

5. THEY ARE ALWAYS GO SOULWINNING WITH AN URGENCY.

( 2 Timothy 4:1-5 [1]I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

[2]Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

[3]For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

[4]And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

[5]But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

6. THEY ARE ALWAYS EXPERIENCE THE HAND OF GOD WITH GRACE AND REJOICING BECAUSE OF GREAT HARVEST OF PRECIOUS SOULS.

( Acts 11:20-26 ) [20]And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

[21]And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

[22]Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

[23]Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

[24]For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

[25]Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

[26]And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
