THE UNCHANGING GOD THAT WE HAVE AS THE PEOPLE OF GOD
Hebrews
13:8 Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to
day, and for ever.
* INTRODUCTION:
There are many verses in the Bible that teach the
immutability of God. Here’s just a
sample:
*After Moses thought about what God was asking him to do,
he became filled with fear and wanted to know what he should tell the people
when they asked who sent him. In
particular, he wanted to know God’s name.
In Exodus 3:14, God answers Moses: “I am who I am.” This is God’s covenant name: Yahweh, or
Jehovah. He is who He is and because He
does not change, He has always been who He is and He will always be who He is.
*Numbers
23:19: “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of
man, that he should change his mind. Has
he said, and will he not do it? Or has
he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”
*Psalm
90:2: “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever
you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are
God.”
*Psalm
102:25-27: “Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and
the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a
garment. You will change them like a
robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no
end.”
*Malachi
3:6: “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O
children of Jacob, are not consumed.”
Because God is a covenant-keeping God, we can count on Him to not
consume us.
*James
1:17: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from
above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation
or shadow due to change.”
1. GOD NEVER CHANGE ABOUT HIS PERFECT
PLAN TO ALL CREATURE.
(
I Timothy 2:4 ) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto
the knowledge of the truth.
a. This is God’s plan before the foundation of the World.
(
Ephesians 1:3-7 ) [3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in
Christ:
[4]According
as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should
be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5]Having
predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6]To the
praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the
beloved.
[7]In whom
we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the
riches of his grace;
b. God gave the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ
to fulfil desires the lost will be all over the World.
(
Matthew 28:19-20 ) [19]Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost:
[20]Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with
you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
c. The Lord Jesus Christ set an example on effective
winning the lost at any cost.
(
John 9:4-5 ) [4]I must work the works of him that sent me, while
it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5]As long
as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
*(
Mathew 9:35-38 ) [35]And Jesus went about all the cities and
villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
[36]But
when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
[37]Then
saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers
are few;
[38]Pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into
his harvest.
2. GOD NEVER CHANGE HIS PERFECT PURPOSE
FOR GOD’S PEOPLE.
(Hebrews
6:17) Heb 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to
shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it]
by an oath:
(
Hebrews 13:17-25 ) [17]Obey them that have the rule over you, and
submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give
account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is
unprofitable for you.
[18]Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing
to live honestly.
[19]But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the
sooner.
[20]Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
[21]Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that
which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for
ever and ever. Amen.
[22]And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have
written a letter unto you in few words.
[23]Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come
shortly, I will see you.
[24]Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of
Italy salute you.
[25]Grace be with you all. Amen. (Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by
Timothy.)“show more convincingly” has the idea of “showing off abundantly.” His
Word needs no confirmation but He confirms it anyway.
* God never change His perfect purpose for God's children
to be obedient. Christians are the only trusted people on earth to obey God by
faith.
* Noah received God's commandments to make an ark in his and he obeyed God by
faith.
( Hebrews 11:6-7 ) [6]But without faith it is
impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
[7]By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with
fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the
world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
* God commanded Abraham to separate
from his adulterers relatives and right away obeyed God even though he do not
know where to go but he right away obeyed God.
( Hebrews 11:8-10 ) [8]By faith Abraham, when he
was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an
inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
[9]By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country,
dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same
promise:,
[10]For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is
God.
* Christians are obedient people of
God we the Holy Spirit that indwelt in our lives.
( Ephesians 1:13-18 ) [13]In whom ye also trusted,
after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom
also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
[14]Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the
purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
[15]Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love
unto all the saints,
[16]Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
[17]That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto
you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
[18]The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is
the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in
the saints,
* Paul received the vision from the
Holy Spirit and he immediately obeyed to preach the gospel of Christ.
( Acts 16:8-10 ) [8]And they passing by Mysia
came down to Troas.
[9]And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia,
and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
[10]And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into
Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the
gospel unto them.
* Jerusalem Church are very obedient
to fulfill the great commission even though it will cause them to be
imprisonment for so many time already.
( Acts 5:17-23 ) [17]Then the high priest rose
up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and
were filled with indignation,
[18]And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
[19]But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought
them forth, and said,
[20]Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
[21]And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the
morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and
called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and
sent to the prison to have them brought.
3. GOD NEVER CHANGE HIS PERFECT
PROMISES TO HIS PEOPLE.
(
Hebrews 6:13-20 ) [13]For when God made promise to Abraham, because he
could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
[14]Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply
thee.
[15]And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
[16]For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to
them an end of all strife.
[17]Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the
immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
[18]That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we
might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the
hope set before us:
[19]Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and
which entereth into that within the veil;
[20]Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest
for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
*Abraham was given a *Genesis 15:6
tells us, “And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as
righteousness.” Now, why did Abraham believe God’s promise? It certainly wasn’t
because it was fulfilled right away!
*Romans 4 tells us that Abraham believed against all hope. He knew the odds
were against him because he was almost 100 years old! In * Romans 4:21 we read
that Abraham was “fully convinced that God was able to do what he had
promised.” Abraham dialed in to the promise that God would never change what He
had promised. Psalm *( 119:89 ) says, “Forever, O Lord, your word isz firmly
fixed in the heavens.”
*In our changing world, we can count on our unchanging God.
* God never change His of His promise eternal life when we accepted Jesus
Christ as our Lord and Saviour of our life.
( John 3:16 ) For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
* God never change about the
forgiveness of sin after we accepted Jesus Christ in our life.
* ( Ephesians 1:7 ) In whom we have redemption through
his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
* ( Hebrews 10:17-18 ) [17]And their sins and iniquities
will I remember no more.
[18]Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
* God never change to give peace and
hope after you've received Jesus Christ in your heart.
( Romans 5:1-2 ) [1]Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
[2]By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and
rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
* God never change to give His
perfect guidance in your life while serving Him.
( John 16:13 ) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he
will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come.
* God promise you of bountiful if
continue to be faithful in serving Him.
( Proverbs 28:20 ) A faithful man shall abound with
blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
* Christ promise you that at His
coming He will be caught up together with Him in heaven at His coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 [13]But I would not have you to be
ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even
as others which have no hope.
[14]For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which
sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15]For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive
and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[16]For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise
first:
[17]Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
[18]Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
* If I will mention all the promises
God this whole day on your Church Anniversary is not enough to mention all the
promises of God to God's people. Amen and amen!!!
4. GOD NEVER CHANGE HIS PERFECT
PROTECTION TO HIS CHILDREN.
(
Psalms 91:16 ) [1]He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most
High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[2]I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will
I trust.
[3]Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the
noisome pestilence.
[4]He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
[5]Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that
flieth by day;
[6]Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction
that wasteth at noonday.
[7]A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but
it shall not come nigh thee.
[8]Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[9]Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy
habitation;
[10]There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy
dwelling.
[11]For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy
ways.
[12]They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a
stone.
[13]Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon
shalt thou trample under feet.
[14]Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will
set him on high, because he hath known my name.
[15]He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in
trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
[16]With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
5. GOD NEVER CHANGE HIS PERFECT
PROMOTION TO HIS DEAR PEOPLE.
Genesis
22:13-19 [13]And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and
behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and
took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
[14]And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to
this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
[15]And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second
time,
[16]And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast
done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
[17]That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy
seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore;
and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
[18]And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou
hast obeyed my voice.
[19]So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together
to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
* God promise to God people the
perfect promotion He prepared for the faithful Christian.
* ( Proverbs 28:20 ) A faithful man shall abound
with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
* God gave a special name and
identity to God's people.
( 1 Peter 2:9-21 ) [9]But ye are a chosen
generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye
should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into
his marvellous light:
[10]Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which
had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
[11]Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from
fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
[12]Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they
speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall
behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
[13]Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it
be to the king, as supreme;
[14]Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of
evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
[15]For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the
ignorance of foolish men:
[16]As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as
the servants of God.
[17]Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
[18]Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good
and gentle, but also to the froward.
[19]For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief,
suffering wrongfully.
[20]For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall
take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God.
[21]For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
* Our promotion is at Christ coming
Christians are will caught up in heaven and be with Him forever and forever
with the Lord.
* O what a wonderful promotion we will experience at the coming of the Lord
Jesus Christ. We will be with Him forever and forever.
( I Thessalonians 4:13-18 ) [13]But
I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
* God bless your all always**
